Website User Issues
Quote from Mark King on January 28, 2020, 3:52 amSince there are a couple of members on this site now, and there might be a few more coming in the next few days, this might be easier to do this on the forum (what it is designed to do) than via email, text chains, etc.
I know that I have spoken to a few people via email already, but my name is Mark, I built this site, so as you are going through it as we start to test more and more things, please drop in any bugs you find into this forum. It will be easier for me to keep track of them. As more and more users get on the site there can always more issues.
The site currently works on your phones only about 50% there, you have probably already seen that, however, please feel free to leave any bugs you find on mobile or desktop versions here. When you leave a bug, the more information the better. Were you on your phone, desktop, chrome, safari, etc.
Thanks everyone.
MK

Quote from pegitom on February 1, 2020, 6:53 pmhaving problems logging in. Created my user name and password with no problem.
The first times I tried ( a couple of days ago), it would say that there was an error possibly caused by me blocking cookies and please try again later. I just tried logging in again this morning and it wouldn't even go to the user name and password screen. I am on a desktop and using firefox. I haven't tried using Chrome or Safari yet nor have I tried logging in via phone. Love the look of the site though, and I can patiently wait for the bugs to be fixed.
Appreciate you guys!

Thanks for the bug report, please tell me how you are trying to login. There is no "login page" per se, the login is just a pop up box on this site.
Thanks

Quote from pegitom on February 3, 2020, 8:43 pmHi Mark,
There is a red login button on the top right of the website. When I click on that, the only thing that pops up on the screen is a rectangular box that takes up 3/4 of the width of the screen horizontally and maybe an inch vertically. There is nothing in the box, just white where normally the user name and/or password field may be. I just "x" out of it and it brings me back to this screen. Hope that helps!

Quote from IndianClipper on February 5, 2020, 3:19 amHi,
The Red login box shows "login" even if we are logged in. And when we press that button it shows a rectangular box.
Also, It would be nice if this forum could hide names and show usernames instead.

Quote from Aaron Manill on February 5, 2020, 3:44 amCan confirm that both the red Login box remains, AND the white link on the navigation banner.
Navigation banner also has some weird spacing due to the size of the text of the 2nd list item being forced two lines, I would post a snip, but it does not seem to work, so here is a link assuming i did imgur correctly

Quote from Mark King on February 5, 2020, 4:03 amLogin/Logout button resolved.
The login no longer pops up, this should resolve any spacing issues.
As far as the real name on the forum, I am still working on that one.

Quote from Mark King on February 5, 2020, 4:07 amTo set your name to anything other than your real name, go to Profile at the top of the Forum.
Then at the bottom click, edit profile. This will take you to another page, where you can set what you want your display name to be. It says "Display Name Publicy as" and you can pick your nickname as that.
This bug should be resolved.

Quote from Aaron Manill on February 5, 2020, 5:21 pmMark, it seems after a successful login the login better still remains until you press the red login button again, at which point it becomes a logout button, but also navigates to an empty page. You might need some sort of event handler to update the UI onLogin

It seems like you might be on mobile, and I just fixed the mobile menus, so it shouldnt have that issue anymore.
As far as desktop, please make sure you clear your cookies and cache and try again.
Thanks
Mark

Quote from DieterDeux on February 5, 2020, 8:16 pmI’m on an ipad pro, Chrome browser. Logged in from the main page. When I go to some articles (tonight’s pregame for instance) it seems to think I’m logged out and it wants me to comment as a guest. Works fine on other articles.
Also, tried to go to Wordpress do the profile pic thing and it didn’t change anything here.

I found the bug you were talking about, thanks. Its actually only on the homepage, if you navigate to any other page, it shows up as "logout"

Quote from pegitom on February 6, 2020, 10:22 amokay this is weird. When I try to post a comment on a thread, it seems like I'm not logged in and won't let me post. When I hit the login button, nothing appears. Yet, when I go to this thread to report this issue, the blue login button is not there, only a red logout button, which means I'm logged in.
I'm using a laptop, firefox browser.
Thanks!
