Ballmer rumored to buy The Forum

Arnovitz Bomb.

Smart move if he can do this because then Dolan won't be in Ballmer's way to creating a new stadium. He could also sell the Forum to someone else once the new stadium is complete.

Definitely uber-rich problem solving.  Something gets in your way?  Buy it.

Will the Forum be torn down and replaced by new arena (the Taj MaBallmer), or will the Taj still go over by the casino?

No reason to tear down the Forum, it's in pretty good shape with the MSG remodel, and is easily currently the LA areas best large indoor concert venue, no need to spend $$$ to demo it when there is already sufficient land for the new arena.

If the sale does indeed go through I would like to see Ballmer and Kroenke(Rams owner) partner up to build a very large and efficient parking structure in the area, because parking for the Forum is already a miserable experience, I can't imagine how the new NFL and Clippers facilities compound that, especially if u run into an early NBA season Sunday where you have a Clipper game, Rams Sunday night game, and a concert all in the same square mile. I would use the Disneyland Micky and Friends structure as a start point for this parking structure.

I'm still not understanding what this is all about lol

Sure they can when the new Clipper arena will be the best indoor venue.  Otherwise, I don't see how they can justify two 18,000 seat venues next door to each other.  Not enough demand/shows to go around.

It doesn't make business sense to buy the Forum(a profitable structure) just to demo it(i'm not even sure if they can with it's landmark status), but there's plenty of uses for the forum outside concerts if they want to put those in the new arena(which will probably have worse acoustics I.E. Staples Center), during the forum's down years they held lots of student events, when it was being run as a mega-church on the weekends.

I agree, but I'd just like to point out that when you're worth $20+ billion, you can make decisions irrespective of whether or not they actually make business sense.  I, for one, would find it hilarious for the owner of LA's "little brother" franchise to buy "big bro's" former home and immediately tear it to the ground.

I can see him keeping it around through the Olympics and then it's tear down city.

I don't think Ballmer would buy it if it were a bad business decision.  But I think just owning that real estate has a lot of potential, even if owning 2 similar buildings within a 1/2 mile radius doesn't make a ton of sense.

Maybe he'll tear it down, build some apartment buildings, and hire Shelly Sterling as a property manager/health inspector.

Bingo!

Dolan is a joke... he needs to sell the Knicks already!
