Notes
Marcus Starting: The biggest news from last game was that Marcus Morris was re-inserted into the starting lineup in place of Nicolas Batum. Notably, this was not due to an injury or because of a matchup – it’s something that Ty Lue and his staff have been planning for some time. In Game one, the switch worked well – Marcus had a strong performance, and Batum also had his best game in a while. I tend to think Morris’ additional shot creation is more useful in the bench unit, while Batum’s superior defense (and no, it’s not close) is a better fit to start the game. However, as long as both guys are getting a good amount of minutes, I’m fine with either starting. Let’s hope Morris can keep the ball-stopping to a minimum and make quick decisions while Batum is able to boost his aggression as more of a bench gunner.
PG Bounceback: Paul George was largely frustrated on Monday, misfiring from the field for most of the night and showing his irritation with lack of fouls calls on several occasions. He did, however, keep attacking the basket despite the harsh whistle, and also drained the decisive shot to seal the game. I’d expect George to come out swinging in this one, and a big night could be in the offing if his outside shots are able to fall.
Well, that’s about it for this game preview of the Clippers’ rematch against the Mavericks. Comment on the game below!
