One of the busiest days of the NBA calendar is here with the 2023 Draft! This will be a straightforward thread to talk about the draft, other NBA moves, and general NBA stuff.

Some information: the NBA Draft starts at 8 PM on ABC and ESPN, and with at least five minutes per pick plus delays in starting, the Clippers’ pick at 30th probably won’t happen until close to 11 PM ET. The second round goes much quicker, so the 48th pick will probably happen at around 11:45 to 11:50 ET.

For a while yesterday it seemed like the Clippers would not make a pick at 30 due to the potential Malcolm Brogdon trade, which seemed close to set in stone. Alas, his medicals were worse than expected, and the trade broke down, bringing Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey, and the 30th pick back to LA. However, it just seems like a matter of time before those assets are dealt again – while I think it’s possible that the Clippers actually make that 30th pick, there’s still a strong likelihood they trade that pick away.

The two most plugged in draft sites, the Athletic and ESPN, have the Clippers taking Brandin Podziemski at 30 and Colin Castleton at 48, and Dariq Whitehead and Keyontae Johnson respectively.

Meanwhile, Ian Begley, a very long-time beat reporter for the Knicks, reported on Twitter that the Knicks and Clippers have “made contact” about a Paul George trade. Nothing appears imminent, but it certainly seems like Paul George is at least semi-available right now.
