In fact, I think FVV was initially happy to extend there too. Those guys have been there, together, for a long time and won a title together.

The issue with FVV was that Toronto didn’t want to commit financially to him, given his age, health, and efficiency. He found someone else who was willing to commit, and that was that.

With Siakam, I feel like the Raptors should be willing to just give him a maximum extension? So perhaps there is not the same level of concern there.

But sure, they were surprisingly competitive in that series and gave Memphis a tough challenge.

The second part of the statement feels absurd to me. They “probably roll all the way to the finals,” past the eventual champion Warriors who beat the Grizzlies team that beat Minnesota?

I doubt they offered that and then backed out because pg13 wanted an extension. Anybody trading for one of our stars isn’t giving up that package with a secure extension. So it’s not that Knicks wouldn’t extend him and it’s more that they think pg13 wouldn’t extend with them.
Otherwise Knicks 3 picks plus out 2028 1st + 4 picks with Mann bones grimes etc + expirings should get us in the room with dame , however all this a believing that Knicks package was real, and that dame isn’t dead set on Miami.
