Would work for all teams involved and DeRozan could get a 3 year 66 mil type deal.

SG – DeRozan/Mann
PG – Harden/Dunn/Porter
C – Zubac/Mamba
PF – Collins/Batum
SF – Kawhi/DJJ

Would only need a 3rd C (Kai Jones meh, bring back Theis) to round out the roster. Lots of wings in this case so Kawhi, DeRozan and Harden (and even Batum) can get rests days quite often.

Clips will be all the more athletic with him on board, DJJ, Dunn.
They are wired for better defenses and more physicalities both ways. Expecting more drives to the basket and cutting plays instead of the default 5 out, ISOs, and 3 pointer offenses so well read by opposing teams with ease.
Harden should have a field day with his lobs / assists.

Was he an all-world rebounder? No. I don’t even disagree w/ some of your criticism but it’s nitpicking him on something he was “good” at overall. As others have pointed out DJ also became a monster on the boards which allowed Blake to emphasize it less. The “his rebounds were just really X” doesn’t change the fact that they were, in fact, rebounds. Whatever you’re ideal of a perfect rebound is or how they’re secured doesn’t change what constitutes a rebound.

I think 99% chance Norm wins you more games than Simmons does but also a 99% chance that this team without any other significant move doesn’t win a championship.

If Simmons gets a new start and is HEALTHY, do you take that 5% chance that he’d be an improvement to your team? Obviously I think you’d have to go through all the medicals, and stuff, and maybe the Nets don’t even want to give up on him at this point. Just always felt like a potential lottery ball if you can get him right again.

If he were just going to return to Charlotte I think that would have been done by now. Won’t be surprised if he ends here after all. He can play the 4 but he’s only 6’7″—which would be ok if he was deadly from deep—which he isn’t. Michael Cage may end up being prescient on this item.

I guess that’d make the risk significantly lower, but it depends on what the goal is – if the goal is to actually win more games this year, I can almost guarantee that Norm would be better at that. If the goal is to try to rehab him and if you’re successful then get a head-start on re-signing him, or to open up more salary cap sooner, then sure, I could see bringing him in.

Personally, I’d rather trade Norm for WCJ or John Collins, but I can see the rationale for Simmons.
