Go to play-by-play and check the per 100 stats/on and off stats. The simple answer: he isn’t very good and he was particularly poor when Russ was out and he got the biggest chance to show out.

Talented, yes but it’s true that he needs to be IT-level on offense in order to outweigh vulnerabilities on defense and with regards to polish.

The Celtics were built around IT to cover up his defense, not many teams outside of the Clippers could do that for Bones.

That being said, it really seems like he has ego issues and Mike Malone and the Nuggets were so fed up w/ him they were willing to take Reggie and now Russ instead of continuing to try to develop him. Compared to the laundry list of other mistakes this FO/coaching staff has made over the years, mismanaging Bones feels relatively minor.

Though I am surprised no other team is willing to even give us a 2nd for him…

Plus at this point, we’ve got Harden and Dunn who are ahead of him on the depth chart, and Mann and (theoretically) KPJ may sub in at PG in a pinch too. Even w/o any ego bruising from last season, PG is a crowded spot this year and there just doesn’t seem like there’s available minutes for Bones.

It is not trying to be artsy or edgy at all, and sorry if it offends but we don’t upload new photos much so we will be continuing to use old ones. That’s just the way it is.
