OKC only took on like 4 million for this season when you discount the contracts they sent out. Plus 1 for next year. However, I think the real motivation for OKC here was creating another roster spot, without attaching assets and without waiving JRE who has conducted himself like a pro.

Given his albatross of a contract and injury issues I feel like we shouldn’t even need to give up a 1st. I’m ambivalent as to whether I’d actually want him (see: injury-prone, expensive), but I get the appeal (see: size, rebounding, youth).

No clue on what the Nets want/need, but I wonder if we could trade for Ben Simmons. He’s looking good in preseason and would fill the holes at PF and playmaker.

‘Social’ media… Everybody can decide for themselves how to use it. My personal solution: never had a Twitter account. Thought process behind it: a) I don’t feel the need to utter my opinion about everything – nor the one to read other, random people’s opinions b) how much time will it cost me? c) what for? I’m interested in debate, argument-based discussions where I can learn from the perspective of others. Discussion that goes in-depth at time, discussion with substance. You got 160 characters, shoot… Nah, hell nah. Twitter was the wrong medium for me.

So I turned to basketball forums, a little less random people but those who share the same interest where many are just as passionate about it and a lot are (more) knowledgeable. Over the years I got to know several different fan sites. My experience: it can also get toxic quickly and that has a loAt to do with moderation. It’s not good to get offended by every post that uses clear or slightly over-the-top language. On the other hand, personal insults and attacks lead away from fruitful (or just interesting) debate. On sites with little moderation in that regard, the results are accordingly.

I found that those things are out of my control. Just appreciating it reading thoughtful or funny comments and will spend more time on the less ‘toxic’ sites without too much negativity.

As the eternal chump optimist I’ve persuaded myself into believing that the reason for all the bizarre rotations and apathetic coaching was that they had decided that Kawhi needed that season of recovery so they weren’t going to compete for a championship and just didn’t give a shit. It would explain pretty much everything so I will glom onto that to keep me going.

I’m still scratching my head about Ty Lue — WTF. I thought he was an innovator and willing to try something new.

Hindsight is always 20/20, and we don’t know what went on in the Clippers organization, but how we mishandled John Wall and Morris (i.e. playing too much), and T. Mann and Roco (not playing enough).

The lack of properly managing the talent on the roster.

Steve Ballmer publicly seems to be 100% behind his front office, coaches and players. I hope that Steve is right in his decisions.
