Maybe it’s time to put Chris Paul in charge. Not meaning 30 mpg, but become the vocal leader. Sort of an assistant coach in charge of everyone focusing on the current game. This takes the daily focus off of Kawhi; neither he nor James is an on-court leader.

Chris could motivate the veterans to just play winning basketball. He’s a leader, he’s outspoken and a PG who doesn’t need to focus on scoring. Exactly what we need now.

More offseason ramblings, but if we somehow get out of this mess with Kawhi’s contract intact there may be a positive off ramp.

No matter what the outcome there will be a cloud hovering over us until he’s gone. I’m not throwing him under the bus and I think he is very misunderstood because of how aloof and stoic he is. But this is not going to be a happy camp moving forward unless there’s some bombshell vindication which would be a reach to expect at this point.

So what is a realistic option for moving on from him?

To me trading him to the Warriors for Jimmy Buckets would be a win-win for both franchises. His ceiling is objectively higher than JB’s and if there’s any place that could absorb the baggage and reap the fruits of his talents it would be Golden State. This would be the best possibility of them winning #5 so I believe they’re in.

For us, we offload the stench of this scandal and there’s an appearance of “punishment” because we traded him. In return we get a player who’s maybe not quite as good but a better vocal leader, a more visibly attractive personality, and someone who’s likely to be more available health wise. Something in my gut just likes this in terms of swag and dark horse dawg factor, and I don’t think the needle moves up or down much in terms of our chances of competing for big things.

Not so fast. The knight in shining armor, Pablo, is calling the CEO statement false stating it counters his argument when he couldn’t get a hold of him on his investigation.

We probably won’t know the entire story even if the NBA gives a ruling after all this. In the end, the Kawhi relationship with the clippers and fans will be tarnished. And Pablo will still be a piece of crap.

Yep. This Pablo guy is just one of many “authors” who take advantage of the publics need for drama (a story) rather than facts.

Very irresponsible “journalism”; but it’s also our fault for clicking it, reading it and believing it without consideration for the possible shallowness of the content.

There could be a best of both worlds off ramp to this. I’m still of the belief that this is some trashy thing that Balmer and Kawhi weren’t in the loop on. Balmer’s too rich and has too much going on, and Kawhi is no mastermind with regard to arranging such things. If it turns out Kawhi’s “people” are responsible then the Clippers might avoid losing draft picks and/or Kawhi being suspended or canceled, whereupon they would have the mantle to trade him and move on. Other than Blake, one thing this franchise has been smart about is the appearance of loyalty to players and not ruthlessly trading them to horrible situations. When it comes to Kawhi it’s even more complicated because marketing wise he’s the biggest name they got. But if this is Uncle Dennis et al I think they would be well within their rights to move on from him and get something back in return. I was kind of excited to see the Unc Nation run but if this gets too creepy we might be better served to move on now. Either way this can’t end soon enough.

Feeling better today after listening to a pod my Clipper fan friend sent me with Mark Cuban defending Balmer and even Dennis Wong and Uncle Dennis and Kawhi. Cuban has been a very strong Balmer supporter who keeps saying that the jump to cap circumvention is a big leap, and the accusation doesn’t add up.

He says that virtually all of the attention needs to be on the criminal scammers, which is what I was saying early on. There’s a juicy and major story there, getting into the details of how they suckered Balmer and the Clippers and so many other investors.

Dennis Wong’s daughter even went to work there. As bad and weird as that looks, how do you explain it?

At any rate, Cuban restored my faith to a degree.
