He’s proven he doesn’t have mental fortitude. Is he going to move to Disney World or the middle of nowhere? Nah… Offer him less than Kawhi as punishment and pull a Blake Griffin and trade him after half a season.

Even if you’re getting pennies on the dollar with signing and trading PG13 later in the year when he becomes eligible, it’s still a penny, which is better than letting him walk for nothing. Letting him walk might be more satisfying but we need every pick and asset at this point so we don’t suck for the next ten years.

Except Lawrence Frank is seemingly incapable of finding young talent.

We need to let George walk. We aren’t contenders even with him, and it makes moving off of this failed 213 era even harder. I understand not outright tanking because we don’t have control of our picks for a while, but that doesn’t mean we need to keep trotting out an underachieving, expensive, old, and unenjoyable roster out there in the meantime.

Regarding the discussion around how much more flexibility we’d have if we were negotiating with homegrown draft picks instead of old veterans – I counter w/, we only have flexibility when said draft picks don’t suck, and our FO absolutlely sucks at drafting. I know a lot of our picks have been late picks, but to only hit one 2.5 guys (SGA, Mann, arguably Coffey) for the entirety of Frank’s tenure here is a pretty damning indictment of his competence in talent scouting. He’s drafted old draft picks who still weren’t ready to play – the worst of both worlds.

Sorry for the rant, and for sounding like a broken record – but we should let George and Harden walk, try to trade Kawhi during the season, and then clean house in the FO.

I know it’d hurt, but honestly, I’d be fine if OKC won a championship, if it meant that this team has some hope/potential for the future.

Also the downside of re-signing George isn’t just that we’d be stuck w/ his albatross of a deal at the end. The real downside is what if we’re stuck w/ that and we still suck? It’s not even hard for me to imagine a situation where George and Harden return, but Kawhi and one or both of George and Harden are hurt, and then what? We still give OKC our picks and have to put up w/ this shit for even longer. The longer we put off swallowing our medicine, the worse it’s going to get.

As satisfying it might be to be rid of Paul George and his loser mentality, losing him for nothing after we gave up all the draft picks and Shai to OKC for him will be a franchise killing disaster. PG13 couldn’t even do the franchise a solid for opting in for a sign and trade like CP3. At this point, the best the Clippers can do to salvage this situation is to sign him to a four year deal, refuse to give him a no trade clause, then look to trade him the first chance they get. Even getting a single late 1st round draft pick for him would be better than losing him for nothing. The downside is that we will be stuck with his albatross contract once he starts declining, and will be on the second apron. In the history of the Clippers franchise, Paul George might have done the most long term damage to the team, asides from Donald Sterling.

Why? Entitled, rich players, too many games, long seasons, strong ass players built like brick s _ _ t houses — it’s a survival league.
