An unreal series. I struggle to recall others this entertaining. Tyrese Maxey had an all-time great performance, he saved them. Knicks dropped the ball on offense, Sixers executed better. In addition to Maxey, the errant pass in transition when the Knicks were up 85-79 was a huge error that made the Sixers comeback possible

But also the little detail: on the biggest play of the night Maxey is leaning into the defender, rewarded with a 4-point play rather than the offensive foul it is according to the rulebook

Knicks – Sixers was another instant classic. The series is an all out brawl. Give Maxey credit for some big time shots to spoil the party at the Garden. Batum had a great defensive play at the end.

Agreed that esp. PG and T. Mann need more 3-point attempts.

Russ needs to attack the paint and get them the proper pass at the wings.

Watched the game again last night. They’ve been playing up the narrative about how we collapsed and the Mavs heroically fought back and just “fell short.” But a deeper dive shows that Kyrie’s heater combined with absolutely egregious one-sided officiating is what allowed them to get within striking distance. Without the latter they would have never cut the lead below 15. As it was, the Clipper beat them back EVERY time they made a run and controlled the game throughout. We never went cold and kept making brilliant shots and defensive plays but Kyrie and the zebras made us have to fight for the win. To Khyber’s point, our hitting 18 threes is not some outlier as we have some of the best firepower from deep in the league. The fact that we’ve done this in both our gym and theirs should make them very nervous.

Dallas is of the view that they need to wall off the rim, cover the corner/sideline 3 and funnel the Clippers into the midrange. It’s not a bad strategy but their defense at the rim has been aided a great deal by the refereeing. If the reffing changes in Crypto, then Zu is going to be able to get to the FT line and also pass it out to 3 pt shooters who have more space to shoot in rhythm.

If the Clips both go into Zu and get Mann/Coffey to shoot more 3s, I think things open up for the Clippers to get some nice runs to get a working margin like they did in Game 1.

Another thing the Dallas folks keep saying is that they don’t expect the Clippers to shoot that well from the 3 pt line even though they’ve done so twice. I do think the Clips have the best group of shotmakers in the league. If they’re getting spacing and rhythm this group is capable of hitting the 15-18 made 3pt mark regularly. If we would actually take more 3PAs, we’d be hitting 20 made 3s a game. I’m still waiting for that break out where we raise the 3PA volume and generate more 3PMs to where we blow past teams in a span of a few minutes.
