Anyway, based on my conversations with a Pacers reporter I know, I didn’t expect them to cut him outright–especially because he makes 3.5M with 1M guaranteed, so cutting him and signing a replacement player to the minimum would save them less than 900k. But he’s still their third stringer and their decision(s) regarding Justin Holiday and the mid-level exception could put them within spitting distance of the tax and all of a sudden shedding the full 3.5M–and not by cutting him, but in a trade getting a 2nd round pick back–becomes more feasible.

We’ll see. I’m not putting that scenario to bed yet but it’s one of many unlikely individual scenarios that I’m tracking.
