The virus numbers will jump with more testing and there undoubtedly will be more community spread. The news media will be covid 19 24/7 (getting sick of it frankly) and folks will put sports and fandom in the way backburner. After awhile, folks (including the players) won’t even care any more.

What they care about now is
1) not getting sick and
2) having food to eat and
3) having money to buy food (if there is any to buy).

I was at two stores today. Panic buying in full effect. Pretty disgusting.

So hard to tell. I don’t think Lebron was slowing down this season at all. I think this actually hurts the Lakers as they were on a roll. Anything could happen in a month. NBA players can get arrested for doing stupid stuff with too much time on their hands. Guys could get sick and lose 20 lbs and have it take 3-months to fully recover to peak health. As far as the Clips, if they’re able to get some practice in, it will help them. I doubt they can though. Overall, I think this is going to help the Sixers and Memphis the most. Those are good teams who are missing key players due to injury. They’ll get their guys back now.

Just as their opponents started losing and the Clippers started building steam, POW the Clippers curse hits again.

I think maybe you have to have like 5 games, then go straight to the playoffs. I think teams would want a few warmup games before the playoffs after a long layoff. Maybe can mess with the schedule a bit and make sure all those teams vying for a playoff spot play eachother (assuming they have remaining games on the schedule). Sure not really fair for them but given the situation, I don’t think can complain too much about missing 4-7 playoff games.

Maybe they just the freeze standings today and go directly to the playoffs. Uncertain times and certainly a bunch of personal and professional stuff to deal with that makes watching a basketball game right now seem inconsequential in the grand scheme. Be safe!

Hard to even think of all the weird ramifications this has on the league. Who’s going to stay in shape during this time off, who does it benefit? who suffers? Raises a ton of questions.

I thought Lebron was at risk of trailing off to close the year given the amount of energy he’s exerted to get his team into the playoffs. Suddenly a long break might be good for the 35 year old to make a strong push for the playoffs.

Are the Warriors out of the playoff picture? I checked, and yes they are, but if Steph and Klay were suddenly able to play together in like July it might’ve been interesting.

Who’s going to sign Boogie Cousins now? knowing he potentially could have another month or two to rehab. Can KD make a return this season if the Nets are in the playoffs?
