It’s difficult watching how slowly or (non adaptively) he’s managed this roster during games, and then double-so by virtue of how reminiscent to Doc’s ‘coaching’ it is…

Definitely does not portend a secretive strategy of trying to save bullets ‘til next calendar season… especially not given how infrequently the team has been able to wrangle-in consistent stretches of health for its key guys….

Don’t really want that guy in the org.

If the Clippers win tonight they will move into the #7 slot and will be tied with GSW at 2 games above .500. I believe GSW currently holds the tiebreaker so Clips won’t be in the #6 spot.

Lakers are now just 2 games under .500 and only 1.5 games behind the Clippers.

Given that nobody else seems to be in on him, that’s…not a good sign.

The no-goes are starting Morris/heavy minutes for him and DNP’ing RoCo/low minutes for him. It tanks the defense. Especially with both Morris and Batum, they look slow and old out there. Add Russ and you got three guys that you can easily attack in space or by setting screens. How do you clean that up? In my opinion by a) playing RoCo, Gordon or Mann instead of Morris and b) having better rim protection. Plumlee can’t play Sabonis at the elbow or higher every possession, it led to layups, even more fouls or and-1s. A center under the basket and better help defense from the 4 spot (hello RoCo) gives those players (Batum, Russ, Morris, Gordon on a lesser day) time to recover, a chance for stops without fouling, a better chance to turn opponents over (Clippers are surprisingly terrible at forcing turnovers, they shouldn’t be).

That’s two aspects where Lue could improve the defense, potentially by a lot. Playing worse offensive teams that may rely more an individual plays rather than wholesome team offenses like Denver, Sacramento, Golden State can also help them right the ship but a key aspect will be to not offer as many points of attack and having better rim protection to stop the initial play, force opponents to improvise, get the ball out of their best players’ hands, put role-players into uncomfortable positions and get the shot clock to run down while staying out of foul trouble. This squad gotta be able to achieve that.

Offensively they look improved and I ain’t too worried on that end. Just get the RoCo/Morris disasters fixed along with the rim protection and this team should be alright and get the 6th seed. Can’t drop winnable games anymore though. While Toronto matches up well defensively, the Clippers shoot much better on average and gotta win that one at home. Defensive rebounding will be a key factor in that one. Taking care of the ball as well.

It should be under the category:

Disgusting

I’m all for trying to pry Udoka from the Celts. We need more hard asses, not pansies like PG. Perhaps the coach can toughen him up. And no more players trying to play GM. They can try to recruit but stay out of the kitchen. They’ve burned enough as it is.

I have nothing but respect for Morris’ service with our team, but this is just bad.
