W/ the Scoot Dream dead on draft night this becomes the only move we have unless we can somehow swing KAT (which seems highly unlikely.)

A bunch of bad options, but “run it back” is by far the worst.

Now our only options are running it back and reliving our shared trauma from last season, or shedding some of our role players for Harden and taking one last BIG swing. Now obviously it depends on the price we ultimately pay (e.g. Ima be PISSED if we send out Zu and Mann), but if we can get rid of MM and get Harden on a 1-yr deal for a severe discount? As much as losing Batum and Norm would hurt, I’d be ready and willing if they netted us Harden.

I’d much rather stomach finding out if an aging Harden can loaf and foul bait us to the Finals for 1 season than watch a repeat of last year’s trainwreck again.

They really can’t afford to let Siakam, Trent, and/or OG also walk for nothing, but if they continue to overvalue their guys (they wanted Zu and Mann for FVV, and supposedly turned down 3 firsts for OG) that’s probably what’s going to happen…

I just don’t have confidence in the latter half of this equation and we don’t have any franchise level young players as much as I love Terance and NH. There’s a chance with NH of him growing into a Brunson type late blooming star so I would prioritize trying to hold onto him. But this franchise has backed itself into a corner to where I don’t see any path toward contending other than packing the team with some late prime HOF talent to spread the wealth/burden around and pull an inside straight. I think there’s too much invested in this 213 experiment to just shrug and accept second tier ambitions.

We’ve seen no buzz regarding interest in Russ or Plumlee from other teams and neither us or Philly has done anything in free agency. However, we do know that Zu has been made available and they got the rights to this athletic 7 footer who might be a functional backup ogre.

To me this spells pushing all our chip in for one last dance with a bunch of late prime stars. A trade for both Harden and Tobias perhaps?

If it’s a disaster then it’s on to intuit. Within one season there the books can be cleared and we will have our choice of whatever young free agents are available and a perennial playoff team.

Getting rid of Morris is the first step.

Trading for Harden just seems a complete mistake. Harden is not a championship player, and he just seems like a mercenary looking for a big payday.

We have very serviceable guards in Bones and T. Mann, we have decent 4’s in Nico and Roco.

Just need a more defensive backup center. However, even if we run it back with Plums, we should be ok.

Our fortunes are tied with the health of KL and PG.

People have commented here and on Twitter, wow such massive overpays for FVV and J. Grant.

I’d give their free agency a good grade if they achieve those goals. think this roster would be very good with those holes addressed. Mann and Bones playing most of the minutes at the point would be a great development for the franchise. Roco and Batum playing most of the minutes at the #4 would help this franchise. Boston Jr., Preston, Coffey, Kobe Brown, Moussa, and Jordan Miller should also be able to crack the rotation at least in the first half of the season when there will be a lot of back to backs, 3 games in 4 nights scenarios, and load management.

They’ve added Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, re-signed Hachimura, added Cam Reddish.
