2026 Clippers Player Preview: Trentyn Flowers

Our player preview series for the 2026 Clippers continues with Trentyn Flowers, one of the Clippers’ three two-way players.

Basic Information

Height: 6’7

Weight: 185 pounds

Position: Small Forward/Shooting Guard

Age: 20

Years in NBA: 1

Regular Season Stats: 1.8 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.0 assists, 0.0 steals, and 0.2 turnovers in 4.5 minutes per game across 6 games played (zero starts) on 36.4/0/100 shooting splits (4/11, 0/2, 3/3)

Contract Status: Signed to a two-way deal

Expectations

There are zero expectations for Flowers, who is a raw prospect that barely played for the Clippers last year (27 minutes total, 21st out of 23rd in total minutes on the 2025 Clippers) and is still just 20 years old. If anything, there’s actually some doubt about whether Flowers will make the team – beat reporter Law Murray has stated that Jordan Miller and Kobe Sanders are secure in their two-way slots but that Flowers is not, and will have to beat out the Clippers’ Exhibit 10 signings in training camp. If Flowers does stick around, it’s safe to assume he will spend just about the entire year down in the G-League developing and will play similarly few minutes in the NBA this season.

Strengths

Trentyn’s biggest strengths at this point are his youth, size, and athleticism. He has the build of a true wing, which is rare enough on its own, and has the athleticism to hang around the NBA. Wings are the slowest position to develop at the NBA level, with most wing players not becoming truly effective until their mid-20s. Thus, Flowers’ rawness is not unusual.

It must also be said that Flowers shot pretty well from three in the G-League last year, making 38.5% of his attempts on 4.3 shots per game. That’s not huge volume (around 180 threes attempted total) but it’s something to build on. If Flowers can be a solid shooter at the NBA level, there might be a real role for him in the big leagues.

Weaknesses

While Flowers has talent, he is very raw, and is not particularly adept at several facets of high-level basketball, including ballhandling, playmaking, and defense. Flowers was able to score decently against G-League competition, but his handle is too sloppy to create against NBA-level defenses. He also gets lost on defense at a semi-frequent rate, which is something that coaches really, really don’t like. In short, he’s not ready for NBA minutes – and that’s ok.

Summary

Trentyn is very young (he’s almost exactly two years younger than the Clippers’ first round pick in 2025, Yanic Konan Niederhauser) and has some tantalizing upside. However, the Clippers do not have much invested in him, and two-way spots are turned over frequently. If Flowers continues to hone his game in the G-League and shows more polish, he could put himself in position for a full roster spot on the Clippers in the 2027 season. If not, the Clippers could easily move on from him, whether during the season or next summer. It would be nice if he became a long-term piece for the Clippers, but the odds are against him.

Clippers 2024-2025 Player Preview: Trentyn Flowers

Our player preview series for the 2025 Clippers continues with Jordan Miller, the Clippers’ exciting second-year wing.

Basic Information

Height: 6’7”

Weight: 204 pounds

Position: Shooting Guard/Small Forward

Age: 19

Years in NBA: Rookie

NBL Stats: Averaged 5.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals, and 1.5 turnovers per game in 14.4 minutes per game on 43.6/35.7/64.9 shooting splits in 21 games played

Contract Status: Two-way deal

Expectations

Zero. Zilch. Nada. As an undrafted, 19-year-old two-way on a team that still wants to win games, there should be no expectations for Trentyn Flowers at the NBA level. He’s going to spend the entire season in the G-League when healthy (he had wrist surgery this summer), and that’s for the best.

Strengths

Flowers played in the NBL last year, a solid international league but not remotely close to the NBA or even Euroleague. He was penciled in as a starter, but was quickly demoted to a bench role, and was completely out of the rotation by the end of the season. The reasoning was simple – the team was trying to win games and Flowers was a detriment to that.

At this point, Flowers is just a raw ball of clay for the Clippers to mold. He has good size and is a solid athlete for the wing, even at the NBA level, but does not possess a ton of tangible basketball skill. His shooting looks fine, but the sample size was miniscule (10-28 on threes). Really, he does not have any strengths at the professional level yet. And, as a 19-year-old, that’s not the end of the world.

Weaknesses

Flowers’ biggest weakness is probably playmaking/passing. In over 302 minutes in the NBL, he had just 13 assists, a pitiful number for a wing. Flowers also turned the ball over 31 times in those minutes, not an egregious amount, but one that does give him an unenviable assist to turnover ratio of under 1:2. Those are bad signs for any player, much less a non big man.

Flowers is also quite bad on defense, which is going to be his biggest obstacle to getting playing time in the NBA. Usually only exceptional offensive players get playing time if they’re awful on defense, and wings are the least likely such role for that to happen. If Flowers is ever going to be an NBA player, he’s going to have to get stronger and sharpen up on the intricacies of advanced defense.

Summary

Trentyn Flowers is the least likely player of anyone on the Clippers’ roster to make a meaningful impact this season. A raw 19-year-old, Flowers will hopefully benefit from some structure in the G-League and time working with the Clippers’ coaching staff to nurture his talent and be ready for NBA minutes in years to come. It would be truly stunning if he played much in the NBA this year.

Clippers Sign Trentyn Flowers to Two-Way Deal

The Clippers made (presumably) one of their final moves of the offseason yesterday by officially signing undrafted rookie Trentyn Flowers to a two-way deal.

The Clippers technically agreed to a deal with Flowers all the way back on draft night, as he received a call from Lawrence Frank, Ty Lue, and Steve Ballmer – a whole lot of fanfare for a summer league or even Exhibit 10 deal. It’s thus not exactly a surprise that the two-way deal materialized as the signing for Flowers, even if it took a bit and couldn’t play in Summer League.

I wrote a bit about Flowers in the Summer League roster write-up as well as in the Cam Christie draft post, and we have talked about him on The Lob The Jam The Pod as well, so I don’t think I need to go much more in-depth here. The long and short of it is that Flowers is just 19, was a top 25 high school prospect, and had a really rough year playing in Australia in the NBL. He’s a long ways from contributing at the NBA level, and will probably spend nearly the entire season down in the G-League.

The Clippers’ offseason is close to done barring a surprise major trade. Their roster is almost full, with all 15 NBA slots and two of three two-way spots filled. PJ Tucker and Bones Hyland are candidates to be moved, and the Clippers could fill the other two-way spot as well, but it doesn’t seem there’s a rush on any of that. It’s possible those moves won’t come until training camp, or even during the 2025 season.

For now, NBA front offices are starting to go on vacation, and major NBA business will quiet down for a couple months until training camps start in late September.
