If they can keep him that’s fine, but he is behind PG and Powell in the SG depth chart. Clips have insane depth at PF, SG and SF, so Mann, Kennard, Morris, Coffey are luxuries at the moment.

Anyways I think Batum is a lock to come back, this is just paying him market rate for 2 discounted years in which both sides benefited.

The realistically upgradable positions are PG and C. Bringing back Hart would be ideal and I think the TPMLE should get that done. Trading Morris along with either Mann/Kennard makes a lot of sense as well. Having 5 starting quality wings (Kawhi, PG, Powell, Mann, Kennard) isn’t really a problem if you load manage one evertnight and all have years on their deals beyond this one so no contract year anxiety.

I don’t see a spot for Morris so unless it requires picks to move him, keeping him doesnt make sense. Kennard can really only play one position so will unfortunately be a roster casualty as a result. Combined they could get a decent PG upgrade.

If you really get to 43 and you don’t want anyone and someone is offering you a future 2nd, then sure. But once you get to that point, teams might not even be offering future 2nds, just cash. At that point, might as well draft an international stash player. Remember we also have an open two-way spot (they’ll keep Scrubb but won’t bring back Moon w/ Preston now picking up depth PG duties), so you can put pick 43 on a two-way as long as he and his agent agree in advance.

If we ever want a future 2nd to get someone, we can always buy one with cash. I would be pretty surprised if we got any real future asset for 43 by itself. If anything, I’d think maybe 43 + cash could get us a better pick in this year’s draft. We should have one spot (without any trades).

Yes I counted, somebody gotta get cut and also consolidate some of the depth which you’ve covered plenty of!
I think the obvious keeper is Coffey and batum as both players once signed can’t be traded and both deserve some minutes.
1 or 2 of Tmann, Morris, Luke should be on the list of “trade to upgrade”
1 gone would give us the 15 man roster
2 gone would give us an extra roster space for flexibility
Or we could fill it with another vet min ring chaser.
This also is including a roster spot for 43rd pick.

Quick question lucas and I’ve asked this before,
But in this circumstance, we have youth in Boston jr. And Preston , technically Mann and Luke are still youngish,
Could it be a smart play for the clippers to consider just trading our 43rd on Thursday for a future 2nd from another team ?
I mean if the clippers don’t zero in on somebody they absolutely love wouldn’t it be better to just get reimbursed a 2nd rounder for next year or year after? We could always use it as seeetner as well? If we’re gonna get diamond stone/ Brice Johnson /FI type player , why waste the little capitol we do have?
