Ballmer can afford to buy Wall out. For him it would be like stopping by Wingstop for lunch or flipping five bucks to a homeless guy hanging out by the door.

This new is a bit surprising, at least in regards to the potential buyout. I was always worried once healthy, Ty would try and shove Wall back into the rotation, but to me it’s been clear for a long time that the team is too deep to give minutes to Wall when healthy. Sure he’d be fine as like the 12th man, but still feel like Wall wants to be in a situation where he can play, and maybe it’s become clear that that’s not here. So it might be a situation where Wall has requested a trade or asked for a buyout behind the scenes. Doesn’t make sense for the Clippers to buy him out because I still think he’s a serviceable emergency option, but if he has requested a buyout I guess he has enough cache in this league to get what he wants. I could see the Clippers granting him the buyout if that’s what he wants because of his agency relationships.

I guess if that is the case, I am a bit peeved that Wall demanded like the full mini-MLE, instead of just taking a vet’s min after making hundred of millions over his career.

Hopefully they can use his salary at least like a TPE to get something (ideally a Hartenstein reunion) instead of just buying him out completely.

It kinda sounds like he’s not p.o.-ed about being put on the shelf and ultimately on the trade wire. Sounds like the FO has already spoken to him before this news came out.
