Injuries have taken their toll but it’s also mental. Consistently going under screens on shooters and then dying on hard screens is fixable but he was like that as a Piston supposedly.

Just a fan of the whole league. I watched a lot of OKC games when he was first getting going, and he’s got a lot of defensive potential. All comes down to usage and coaching/direction. He’s been great on spot up shooting. Focus and use what’s been working.

Are you a Piston’s guy? I agree with you on his usage. These are the POs so don’t think his feelings would be hurt at all. I like his outside shooting. Confident, good form and no hesitation. Use him correctly, give him marching orders and he’ll contribute.

McGruder seems to be a bit more committed to providing energy. Reggie is just so much longer he has better defensive potential but has had some lapses. We’ll see what Doc does. Fortunately I don’t think Reggie vs. no-Reggie will make a difference in this first round series.

He doesn’t need to be benched. He is better than nearly any other backup point guard in the league, and just needs to be leveraged properly. Playing 10-15 mins, NOT initiating offense (because he tends to think he’s the best offensive creation option when the ball is in his hands). He’s a long capable defender when he’s focused in. He’s suited will to come off the bench and play some beside Lou. Sham should run with the starters until Pat is back.

I’d suggest using McGruder more.

However, if Dallas is gonna score anyway based on their high powered offense, leave Reggie as a limited spot up shooter. Plus let him guard the worst offensive player on the floor.
