I think it’s easy to forget that we have two of the most valuable assets in all of sports – a bottomless-pocket owner willingly to do whatever it takes to win (while at the same time not overly Interfering) + an insanely competent front office.

I think the Lue hire is fine. Our favorite NBA team is still loaded and will no longer be subject to Dr. Rivers’ malpractice. I’ve every confidence that the highly competent owner and front office will take appropriate measures regarding roster problems (Trez and possibly others) and that we’ll make another run at that first banner in short order.

I guess we know which one of them “leaked” this stuff. Not that it was hard to tell to begin w/. I don’t think I’ve gone from loving to hating a player as quickly as it’s happened for me w/ Trez this past season. I’m thankful for all the work he’s put in over the last couple of years, but it’s time to move on.

At some point, there is blame to go around for everyone. Kawhi took advantage of his status as the star player, having held the team hostage to make the trade for PG. While his load management was legit to manage his quad injury, Kawhi and PG need to be held accountable and it looks like Doc wasn’t going to do that out of fear of alienating them. It bodes well that Lue was able to hold LeBron accountable when LeBron was signing 1+1 contracts every year during his second Cavs stint. The sign of a great coach is if he/she is able and willing to hold accountable the best players accountable just as much as he/she would the rest of the roster.

I think Pat Bev, Lou, and Trez had a legitimate gripe, but at the same time, that is where the coach failed as much to hold Kawhi and PG accountable as much as Pat Bev, Lou, and Trez needed to be held accountable to buy in to sacrificing their egos and recognizing that the Clippers belong to Kawhi and PG now – Trez had a ton at stake especially since this will be his first real contract he is getting.
