I mean even in this “bad” season for him, he’s putting up 22/8/10.

Maybe a part of me also would want to see 3 native LA superstars suit up for the Clips (plus SoCal native Norm Powell).

I mean if the Clips offered up their 1st round pick, feels like they could’ve gotten in the conversation, but I just don’t think they had the expiring deals to make it work. Seems like the Blazers wouldn’t want to take back Morris and/or Kennard and those are really the only big contracts the Clips have left which could be moved.

Could there been a deal like McCollum and Powell (no RoCo) for Bled, Serge, Zubac, Winslow, and Keon + 2028 1st round, and DET 2nd round? Not 100% sure those salaries work, but gets pretty close. A lot of roster spots for the Blazers to take back though. Also suddenly Clips would’ve have a big center problem, but Hart has been good, and feels like there are plenty of usable centers out there, at least more than point guards.

So in this trade it would really be Kennard/Reggie/Ibaka for Simmons and then Roco for Curry to make the math work

Also, he’s way younger. With PG and Leonard aging out of their primes, it would be cool to have Simmons, Powell, and Mann still in their primes.

I feel like if this was even a possibility, would the Clips want Harden over Simmons? I mean Harden obviously never been my favorite player, but Simmons has more holes in his game, and just feels like a bigger gamble. He can be an all-star but Harden at his best was MVP caliber type of player.

I mean if they REALLY think Harden is leaving this summer, and aren’t sold on Simmons, I would MAYBE could see a scenario if you included like Zu, Batum, Coffey, maybe Boston along with the big salaries necessary (Morris/Kennard), there is enough talent to at least make an enticing offer. Probably for roster spots purposes, the Clips are taking back some of those old guys like Millsap and Griffin, or whoever else they think is expendable.

Given like would be 1/3 of each team’s roster that would have to trade hands, probably not realistic, but at least a fun hypothetical. Would be a huge gamble given Harden’s uhm “bigger” size these days, and you’re only doing this assuming you’re giving Harden another max contract which is going to look pretty ugly by the end of it. Now that I think about it…. I would probably not be that excited if they made that deal, haha.

With KD and Kyrie, they really need a bunch of shooters and defense and probably some more depth at the center position. Trading away harden for 2 players doesn’t do enough to balance out their very top heavy roster. This is especially an issue with all of the health issues they’ve been facing.

This trade could also be done without curry, with Maxey (pr thybul), Morris, Kennard and roco all going to Brooklyn. All of those guys would would be awesome fits on that team.

Ibaka joins Brooklyn’s cast of has-been bigs (Millsap, Aldridge, Griffin) and Kennard is redundant once Joe Harris (a better version of Kennard) is back from injury… I can’t even start to see it, even if we throw in the kitchen sink.
