Has history with Harden — 8 pretty good years in Houston — so he’s conflicted with doing James a solid vs. looking out for the team’s best interests. Something’s gotta give — maybe strike a balance.

Maybe he’d prove he deserve minutes over guys like Norm and Mann, but I still had my doubts at least for next season.

Now that it’s 7/1 and the new CBA has kicked in, maybe you’ll get your wish and we’ll HAVE to see Bones in a significant role when they have included Norm and Mann in the deal just for salary matching.

I definitely think Clips will have to give up something. I was just hoping that “something” could be more the fringes of the rotation (Bones, 1st Round Pick) instead of guys they really should be giving solid rotation minutes to.

As I was hoping, Clips could even take back PJ’s contract, and still only have to give up Morris, RoCo, Coffey, Bones, Preston, Boston’s salaries in a deal.

I guess now I can just hope they come to an agreement to a package that works without taking back PJ’s deal, and keeps the vast majority of the Clippers rotation (Zu, Powell, Mann, Batum) in tact. Morris, RoCo, Coffey, Bones + Picks/Pick Swaps for Harden

I am surprised people seem to throw Norm in the deal so willy-nilly. Norm was a 6th man of the year candidate most of last year, and was an efficient scorer off the bench for the Clips. While his contract isn’t great, I think he’d still be a huge contributor to maintaining a championship level depth in a deal with Harden.

At least before the new CBA it was possible to give up minimal salary and potentially keep Norm and at least one of Batum or RoCo. After the new CBA, you’re left having to include another salary (Norm, both Batum/RoCo) with Morris.

Just frustrating that they didn’t have the framework of a deal worked out before the opt-in. This should’ve been much more in the line of Porzingis or CP3’s opt-in and trades. Now Morey has more leverage and could just deal with a disgruntled employee until he gets what he wants.

This roster currently includes *other* assets which ought appeal enough (considering the respective positions from which these two teams would be dealing from) for Lawrence Frank – if he truly is worth his weight in salt – to formulate various options of combinations in order to secure an agreeable package WITHOUT once again selling- off ALL at the prospect of acquiring another widely-deemed ‘star-level’ player in James Harden by giving-in to the likely request of Morrey’s FO for Frank to include Terance Mann within any conceived packages sent out to Philly:

It’s frankly (no pun int.) already past a point of being ridiculous in terms of this organization’s digesting hard lessons endured re: base-fallibility of even the great, ‘star-level’ players in this league: from the era of CP3, DJ, & Blake during Lob City to this current iteration of the 213 CLIPS, it’s clearly been ineffective cashing in all chips for a BIG 2 or 3 or even 4 Stars, without ensuring the roster still remains replete with at least one (plus hopefully another, for good-measure) ARGUABLY just as rare archetypal piece in the form of a 2-way-playing, Team-dynamic-improving, role-shifting, clutch shot-making, loose-ball-diving, GLUE-GUY; whom in-and-of-themselves embody those intangible-qualities often observable within champions.

I assert here – before all fellow Clippers fans dwelling within this thread -that no other current Clipper engenders this requisite Bruce Brown-esque, or PJ Tucker-esque, or Andre Iguodolla-esque mold than that of #14 Terance Stanley Mann!

I haven’t seen any teammates who have had problems w/ Harden. It’s not like he’s ever been a part of a Draymond punching Poole in the face situation (at least not that we know of). For me, this is very much a “I dislike the playstyle but if it wins us a championship I can stomach it.” And if he fails? Well, I wanted to blow it up anyways, so we’re just back to square one.

His next contract will be his best shot at maxing out what the market thinks he is worth and he will never get the opportunity to show that here.

He’s got a coach that for some reason doesn’t trust him and won’t give him consistent minutes, and he does not have the full trust of KL and PG.

This team is old, slow and brittle. I wish I was wrong, but this is not a championship squad. T Mann needs to look out for himself and max his value. He has more than earned that opportunity.

But only the antisemitic flat-earther is a dealbreaker for me. It’s hard to argue against any of the Harden criticisms—he can indeed be lazy, he is indeed a bad defender, and his brand of floptastic basketball can indeed be brutal to watch—but all that said, any trade package short of one that would include Mann, Bones, and both 1st-round picks seems like a no-brainer. The roster fit is perfect, the commitment is only one year, and the Clippers have few other plausible ways of upgrading for the coming season.
