I mean, I get it, you’re getting the 3rd All-Star and all, but shit, that bench STINKS.

If we had Ballmer instead of DTS then that trade would have never happened.

Suns are in the 5th seed now though, they dont really need to trade him.

Powell, Reggie, Morris, Coffey and Mann plus the 2028 1st round pick for Kyrie and Joe Harris works cap wise.

Nets get 3-4 rotation players, expiring contracts, shooters and those players can be flipped for draft picks too.

Harris can backup Kawhi and is still a good shooter. Clips also free up minutes for Luke and solve the PF jam. Can still try to get a backup big like Reid or pickup a Howard, Favors or Whiteside vet.

PG/Luke
Kyrie/Wall
Zubac
Batum/Covington
Kawhi/Harris

I like this roster composition more than we have currently, plus jettisoning Reggie and Morris is a big win already. Sucks to lose Norm and Mann though.

I feel like we are relatively close personal wise and if LF can pull off a similar under the radar move like the Norm/RoCo trade last year we’ll be in pretty strong shape one way or another. Seems like we have the assets to do something impactful.

Like for Lowry we could do MM, Wall, and Coffey, but the Heat probably wouldn’t take that, I’m not even sure if I’d want to ship out MM for someone even older than him, and I definitely wouldn’t want to add draft capital to make it happen.

Lakers couldn’t get him more than like a mini-MLE last summer, so made sense for him just to opt in and try and get where he wanted to via trade. Always felt like Kyrie has been angling to get back with Lebron in Hollywood. Feels like the right fit.

As far as the Clippers are concerned, I’ve always been in the camp that if Kyrie WAS an option for the Clippers though, they have to take it. He is a generational talent and way above the FVV, Conley, Lowrey class of PGs on the market. Just can’t imagine a deal around a bunch of solid role players makes for a very interesting deal for the Nets.

I wonder if the Nets would also want to dump Ben Simmons salary? He hasn’t been great this year when he’s been able to play, and owed a lot of money for the next 2 years. I mean Clippers have a plethora of solid role players to give up to take back Kyrie and Ben Simmons, but I think the Suns could give up CP and Ayton and do the same thing. Or Lakers could do Westbrook and Beverley with expiring deals to help them just shed the salary, although I question if Jeanie is willing to spend that much.

I wonder if the market for the FVV, Conley, and Lowrey stalls while waiting for the Kyrie situation to resolve itself. Just as the most talented guy on that list, feels like you have to see what he’s going to go for before you can

Dude is straight up a franchise arsonist. At this point I just hope he goes to Miami, lowers Toronto’s asking price for FVV, and we can stay tf away from all his baggage.

The funny thing is if we did wind up trading for him and it led to the Clips winning a championship I’d actually be in favor of not re-signing him to a long-term deal, regardless of what assets we had to give up to get him. Unfortunately I’m guessing that trading for him would be contingent on a long-term deal so that’s probably an impossibility regardless.

Was thinking the same thing re CP3. If we can add him as part of a three way we should do it. And he considers LA home now so I think he actually would be inclined to return. Maybe the Lakers, but I think we have more attractive assets to ship to Toronto to get that done. Just when you think things will get dull in the NBA it never disappoints.
