I’m fine with trading Kennard. I like him but we’ve been saying he has potential to be a piece for us for a long time. Yes he’s a dead eye set shooter but I’ve never really seen him have a stretch over a few months as a clipper where he was a great player and really helped our team and was a fixture in our rotation. For some reason he could never get to that point where he could be trusted in playoff games or at the end of important games. or he would have a hot streak and then get hurt or get cold. But he never seemed to really put it together for a long stretch. I think Gordon will be a big help for the second unit, we’ve had many games where Powell is just carrying the offense for the second unit , with 4 non-scorers, and now he will have some help. Reggie Jackson was finishing games recently and not doing well. I am more confident in Gordon taking those wide open threes from the wing with the shot clock running down than I am with Reggie. and Jackson and Kennard are weak on defense which has been a problem for us. Gordon isn’t great but I think he’s sturdy enough to hang in there on D. We can cut Gordon loose or trade him after the season, Kennard as Lucas said, at $15 million is overpaid and harder to move.

Mann is a smaller version of Batum. Mann is going to continue to improve.

This is true: "Luke is the league’s best shooter that doesn’t shoot. Gordon will shoot. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take."

The remaining games for the regular season is going to a real experiment. Suns (what kind of pieces can you put around their big 3, can they defend anyone). In contrast, MIL, Denver and GS didn’t make big changes, and their teams are pretty consistent — that continuity is big. The Suns, Lakers and to some extent the Clippers still need to figure out how the pieces will fit together.

The Plumlee trade was expected, but getting Bones and EJ might be diamonds in the rough for this season. It is little curious — youngster vs. old veteran, but they can both help us now and hopefully in the postseason.
The Luke Kennard experiment failed. I’m not sure if you can blame Coach if Luke obviously was given chances, but he is not the aggressive shooter that he can be.
Considering what Luke is paid, it is better for the Clippers to move on to another player that $14M/yr salary could be better used.
We still have a lot of flexibility this summer, but that’s something that we’ll discuss in July.

It seems like it was going to take both a first and Terence to get FVV and my hunch is probably the same for Dinwiddie. Terence’ performance last night probably save this from happening. I was has hungry for a point guard as anyone but in the bigger picture Terence is a bit of a unicorn in the way he switches all positions and wreaks havoc all over the court. I think teams were trying to fleece us on him and we didn’t fall for it.

I wonder what it would have taken to get Dinwiddie from the Nets. Maybe Kennard and the 2nd rounders would have been enough. Gordon and Powell are very similar players which are both on the undersized side of wings.

Gordon will help more than Luke down the stretch of this season and the nature of his contract will be more conducive to an attempt to trade for a 3rd star this summer.
