Coffey put in the work and made himself a priority.

He has proven he is a NBA player, let’s see how much more he can develop.

I like him defensively at the 2, on the fast break and he is a good decision maker not a ball-hog.

Allows Ty Lue to have a long rotation in the regular season to preserve the legs of the Playoffs starters while still going for a good seeding. Win-win as Amir continues to develop. A great development story and investment for the franchise, long term.

Great deal for the Clips and congratulations to Coffey for making FU money. He could have gotten more if he was an UFA but he will still be young enough in 3 years for another MLE type deal. Kennard, Mann, Morris and even Powell could be moved now if an upgrade presents itself.

They’re in way too deep to go full rebuild. It’s already hard enough to properly tank w/ your own picks – how do they expect to find high picks from another team when they themselves are tanking and their own picks are going to Houston?

My guess is they try to trade for a lesser but younger star and some draft capital to build a foundation for their (mostly mediocre) team, and then try to leverage their “big market” status to lure FAs again at some point to accelerate their rebuild.

not sure the Nets would want PG for KD, they would still not be contenders after this week. The Nets look to be entering a period of a soft reset, I would think picks and young players to surround Simmons would be the way to go. Luke, Mann, Boston, Preston, all our 2nd round picks and like 1 or 2 first rounders would be all we could really offer for KD and some bad contracts like Joe Harris. Is that enough when 15 other teams are interested? Definitely not.

Really curious what route they go. I mean full rebuild, meaning getting as many picks back, but all their own picks are going to Houston, so going in the tank themselves isn’t going to do them any good as far as their own picks. If they can get some high picks, I guess there is a chance they can rebuild with someone else’s picks.

Or they can try and pry away another star to pair with Simmons and at least try and do something. I think they’ll want some combination of good players and 1st round picks. I mean they were pretty successful last time by being a plucky team full of solid players who made the 8th seed, and luring some star free agents to play in New York. At least feels like being in New York, they don’t have to go through the same full tear down that other markets might be resigned to.

I remember after Brooklyn got swept out of the playoffs, I wondered if KD was at all unhappy there and the Clips could swap PG for KD. I mean at that time, it was a complete hypothetical, I never thought would be really an option. Just the fact that seemed like Kawhi wanted KD to come with him to the Clips back in 2019, made it interesting.

Now it’s actually a possibility at least from the Nets side, but I don’t think there’s anyway the Clippers would do it after all PG has done for this organization and relationship with Kawhi, which seems to be pretty good. BUT there might only be like 5 guys in the whole league I would consider as a talent upgrade and a good fit on the roster, and KD is one of them.

Definitely they should see if some combination of Norm/RoCo/Mann or whoever else Brooklyn wants and their 2028 pick can get it done, because that would be crazy. But feels like other teams can probably outbid them, and with KD’s long contact, not sure he has any leverage to push them towards certain destinations.
