I feel like they HAVE to figure out a way to get professional dunkers involved, or maybe at least G-leaguers, because otherwise no one is going to be impressed with dunks anymore. It’s just too hard to do something that hasn’t been done before. But getting embarrassed by a amateur or g-league baller is probably not ideal to get the best of the NBA to show up either.

I don’t care very much at all about all-star stuff or three-point contest rules or whatever, but the problem folks have had with the skills competition forever is that whoever happens to make the three point shot on their first attempt wins, because the time it takes to wait for the ball to hit rim and then take a second shot is larger than the difference between the faster and slower guys doing the dribbling course. It feels like if you had a large sample of 3PT shootouts with these 2 mountain dew balls, you’d find that largely whoever hits them wins, and with just 2 attempts at that range it’s a lot more luck than anything else.
