Just like that Clippers team, this Clippers team has been hampered by poor drafting. This is what John Hollinger had to say about the Clippers drafting:

OutlookLots of people expect the Clippers to stink now that Brand is out. I’ll take things a step further: I didn’t think they’d be any good even before the injury. This is the season where L.A.’s recent draft failures really will start to hurt, because as age takes its backcourt down a peg there’s nobody coming up to replace them.
How is this for a bad batting average? The Clippers have had six lottery picks since 2001; of them, only one, Kaman, is certain to make a contribution this season, and none has come remotely close to stardom. Check it out:
• Korolev is out of the league.
• Livingston is out for the season and perhaps longer.
• Melvin Ely was abandoned on the Bobcats’ front porch three years ago.
• Chris Wilcox was traded for Vladimir Radmanovic and then converted, essentially, into Tim Thomas.
• And Thornton could be a contributor, but his age sends my bust-detector into overdrive. Besides, with that run of recent picks, why should we bet on this one working out?
