January:

Nets, Lakers, back-to-back on the road Toronto and Boston, @Cavs, @Wizards

Gotta beat the Nets and Wizards. Toronto is tough but we got an edge. Boston with or without Zu, they haven’t lost a game at home. Won’t be an extra loss. Cavs are a bit tougher without him but the way Plumlee has looked we could get by. Lakers not so much, Zu being out could totally change the outcome.

Overall I think we’re likely to lose one game extra because of the injury.

February to March 4th:

@Detroit, back-to-back on the road Miami and Atlanta. Vs Pels, Pistons and Wolves. @Golden State. Back-to-back on the road OKC and Memphis. Vs Kings. Back-to-back vs Lakers, vs Wizards. Back-to-back on the road Minnesota and Milwaukee.

Miami, NOLA, Minnesota, Sacramento, Lakers and Bucks are imo games that could turn from a win into a loss without Zu.

What I’m expecting is slipping a bit in February but still being good enough for 3rd or 4th. The direct games vs OKC and Minnesota were always gonna be big. What has become even more important is that NOLA game I think. And those two back-to-backs at the end suck. I’m hoping Zu can be back for the last Minnesota game and then sit out vs Milwaukee.

Harden had unlocked Zu in a way that we’ve never seen from him but always hoped we would. The bright side is that it doesn’t look like it’s season-ending and hopefully Zu can be back in time to rebuild some chemistry before the playoffs.

Kawhi and Zu, the two guys we cannot miss. Injury bug firsts time really strikes. This is gonna be a big test for the team.

However, I am glad they are taking the cautious approach here and didn’t play Zu through it vs Minnesota. This will affect playoff seeding but we should be fine nonetheless.

Terence, Norm and Coffey should be off limits. Plumlee and DT should be fine to allow us to hover around the 4–5 seed until Zu comes back and we can make one last push. Should have gone after Olynyk months ago when the Jazz were possible sellers. What I expect is to see some modest moving of PJ and change for some type of help up front whether it’s a 4 or 5. No one shorter than 6’9″ please.
