But that’s specifically because 1. Redick would be on a smaller contract, so really it’d be Redick + another role player instead of DeRozan, and 2. DeRozan didn’t shoot 3’s at all until late last season – dude was Ben Simmons’ level allergic to the deep ball until recently.

DeRozan has shown that he can actually hit the 3 at a decent clip and playmake this season though, so yea, obviously you take him over Redick now, but it was a legit debate to have as recently as a couple years ago.

He certainly doesn’t fit on every team but with our plethora of shooting and two Alpha dogs, his fit makes sense.

I get the importance of role players and 3 point shooting in the NBA these days, but are we really going to go that far to say in a vacuum you’d take Redick over Derozan? Is this as crazy of a take as I think it is? Derozan is not great from 3, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a great shooter. His percentages from all over the court inside the 3-pt line and TS% is great. Plus playmaking and defense I would think would make him a clear winner.

Especially D. We’ve got the guys who athletically can play great D. This team needs to come together on that end and fight like hell to a man to get the defensive rebound. I rarely see this team beating anyone with a leak out, so why aren’t the guards boxing out at the perimeter? If I’m Lue, I’m making an example of guys who aren’t boxing out and aren’t getting proper position for defensive rebound. Lakers live off 2nd chance points. Without them, they are just another team. Defensive rebounding is always easier said than done, but this is a relatively straight forward area that they can work on, consistently improve and would make a ginormous difference in the outcome of their season.

Apparently they’re “listening to trade talks” and buyout could happen. My b.

Again, I believe that assigning the “awful” tag to the Luke deal is premature with half the season still to play. (I applaud your use of “re-sign” as opposed to “resign.” Rare to see on sports fan sites.)

They signed him to that extension thinking he’ll play great and demand more in the off-season. Judging by the 1st half of the season, that’s clearly not the case and the awful tag fits. Without the extension, I’d judge him against the player he replaced: Shamet. He’s barely outplayed him.

How would Ty “make this all work”? Splitting minutes didn’t work in the early season. Benching Luke seemingly worked for Lou. Having PG out the last game gave them both got 20+ minutes and Luke outplayed Lou. Games where Luke got more minutes he was off and on. Maybe Ty needs to relegate Luke to Redick type role, run around screens and shoot 3s and leave all the shot creation to Lou until next season.

Either way, I don’t see Lou re-signing or getting re-signed and we’re stuck with Luke for the next season. Lou hasn’t shown consistency this season and we can at least trade him for something to improve this season or the future.

Whether or not the extension is “awful” remains TBD. He was great in that last game. He was signed to that extension for a reason by a respected front office paid big money to make such decisions. I’d say chances are better than even that he proves to be a nice addition to the roster. As for Lou W., he gets his own shot, distributes, is a good locker-room guy, and is on a ridiculous team-friendly contract. It’s up to the coach to make this all work.

Of course , but then he prolly would be as gettable to a no asset team like ours. Yea Spurs actually had mook until mook got pissed at clutch and re-nigged on the deal. On the Spurs mook could be back to putting up ny numbers.
Derozans assists would help
The 2nd unit, prolly even close out games I’d assume!? He’d be another weapon rteams would have to pick there poison with .
He’s not my favorite trade target, but with our assets we’d be lucky to get him. Could even get LMA if he’s bought out if we were to loose Zu.
Not holding my breathe but if pop and the Spurs were going ship players to LA it’s been proven he don’t deal with the lakers.(could of had AD package for kawhi)
