But if it’s for one team winning this season, I hope it’s the Bucks.
From his background and the rise to his stardom, Giannis deserve a ring or 2 to his name.
Then next season, I hope it’s finally our time.
We have great organization, coaches and players. All we need is health and a bit of luck.
I try to think that we can rest now and get ready for the next season.
I also really want to see Preston play. He gets a year studying the league and get his body ready to play. The last couple clips of him playing with our coach, he looks bigger than the last time we saw him in the summer league.
Our fanbase deserve some joy. I hope we get it soon.

But just one title in all those seasons with great rosters. And that was pure luck (KG, Thibs, young Rondo, all the best ring chasers).

From my uninformed position as a casual basketball fan, I think following the conventional wisdom of shortening the rotation severely blew up in Lue’s face.

I understand that when you’re talking PG and Kawhi, where even if only playing at 80% due to fatigue, those guys are going to be better than the next option.

But when you’re talking a roster of 10 solid role players like the Clips rolled out against New Orleans, there’s definitely the case to be made that they needed to win with fresh bodies, not by playing your “best” players 40+ minutes. A tired Marcus Morris is not better than a rested Hartenstein. A tired Reggie Jackson is not better than a fresh (brewed cup of) Coffey.

The Small Ball magic pumpkin was going to turn back at some point, and when Willy Green put Val back in at center, we had no size to challenge for rebounds around the basket.
My question — why do we have these really good regular season contributors like Zu, Hart and Coffey — who have played much better than worse, they couldn’t spell some of the older guys for 4-5 min so that the finishing 5 wouldn’t be so gassed.
I am so frustrated. Augh!

No thanks.

Being on teams in the west, definitely makes it definitely harder to root for the success of their teams. But at least hoping for their individual success. In general, especially in the 1st round, I find myself rooting for a lot of upsets, just because I always tend to root for the underdog (which probably explains my Clipper fandom to begin with).

So my rooting interests are

  1. Hawks – Rooting for Lou/Gallo and the upset
  2. Brooklyn – Rooting for Blake and against Boston sports fans
  3. Bulls – mostly just for the upset. Love Giannis and Serge, but also rooting for all the LA/LA adjacent guys (Demar, Lavine, Ball, Vuc)
  4. Raptors – I actually liked Doc with the Clippers and feel like he gets too much hate, but I’ll admit seeing him lose in heartbreaking fashion makes me feel more justified that the Clips made the right decision moving on from him. Also easy to root against Harden. Philly sports fans vs. Toronto sports fans, give me TO all day.
  5. Pelicans – just rooting for the underdog. I might see myself rooting for the Suns and CP later in the playoffs
  6. Timberwolves – Obviously rooting for PatBev
  7. Can neither team win?
  8. Dallas – I want other fanbases to experience the fear of facing Luka in the playoffs. Sucks about the injury, hope he can come back 100% soon. Also a 1st round loss for Utah means a decent chance they blow it up there (they should totally trade Mitchell and Gobert to the Clips).
