I guess it’s just curiosity, but if the reason a player has left (or hasn’t yet arrived) is not covid but is the amorphous “family emergency,” then I suppose it’s none of our biz to know about the personal lives of the players whom we follow so intently. Bur, heck, I kinda wonder what’s going on. For example, if a player’s child was rushed to the ER, the nature of what happened would get out eventually. Even real embarrassing stuff get’s out (like Jamil’s herpes incident that nixed his Laker’s gig).

You would think that the Time’s beat writers or the national guys with all the inside contacts would know exactly what’s going on but, for one reason or another, just won’t say.

Yeah relying on those guys to maintain the 2 seed would be really sketchy. I imagine everyone will be back for atleast 1-2 of the scrimmages and Hopefully Everyone is back for the seeding games.
If we lock in the 2 seed I’d love to see the guys rest some minutes in the remaining seeding games and see mann Coffey and Noah get a little time in but obviously gelling and chemistry should be number one priority balanced by keepIng everyone healthy and ready for playoffs. Could be tricky. Also that’s good to hear that if someone has to leave the bubble in the playoffs (god forbid) they could possibly be back and eligible to play by only missing 2games ?! Let’s hope that doesn’t happen , I just like to know worst case scenarios.

Don’t think there is a cutoff for when players can return–just the re-entry rules mentioned in the article. If you plan it ahead it’s easier to make testing arrangements and make sure you’re only gone for a few days + 4-day re-entry quarantine.

It’s tricky because if the current slate of guys (Landry, Morris, Zu, Trez) are ALL still out, then Noah is the starting C and Green is the only option at backup C. We know Doc trusts Patterson but you’re still shorthanded there and need to play Kawhi at PF a bunch–and the preferred SG when Kawhi plays PG is Landry, who is not there either.

Current rotation is something like:
Pat / Reggie / PG / Kawhi / Noah
Lou / Rodney / Mann / Patterson / Green
With Coffey as the emergency 11th man.

That’s not pretty in the front court.

I assume JMG would slide into the starting lineup, but Patrick Patterson could also fill in I guess. Just gotta hope everything is alright with Shamet, Trez, MM, and Zu – that’s a ton of our rotation missing right there.

Just hope we stuff like this doesn’t affect the seeding games to much. I don’t care what our final record is going into the playoffs but I really feel the clippers need to maintain the 2nd seed and not have to see the lakers till the conference finals.
I bet the confidence and team/organizational outlook is different though. They prolly all feel one way or another we gotta go through the lakers so as long as everyone is healthy and gelling they will take there chances in The playoffs however it pans out.
Marcus Morris is worrying me more then anything, we traded away some decent stuff for a pro rated covid shortened season for him to put us over the top.
Who becomes our starting PF if he doesn’t play ? JMG?
Also is there a cutoff of when players can come back? I’ve heard stories of certain players planning on leaving for the births of there children, I’d imagine if there teams are still playing in the playoffs there’s no reason they can’t come back and quarantine and then still play no matter what right?
