Yes, I agree it’s not over and they can still finish well and perform well in the playoffs.

But a 33-31 record and poor record vs good teams just doesn’t fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling.

It’s like having employees reporting to you who have seem talented but never deliver. “Please don’t fire me, I will do better” … and they still never deliver. How long before I give up on them? Rhetorical question, there’s no good answer. You’re just in a quandry forever.

It’s been a miserable season to be sure, but it’s not over. We had solid season during the Lob City era only to have miserable post seasons. Kawhi is looking incredible and the roster is really good. We lost a couple close games in the past week, but we’re totally in the mix.

Definitely not “panic” time. But “breathe out” is a little to light of a response. “Sigh” is more appropriate.

I’ve been a STH for 23 years, and attended many Sports Arena games before that since about 1992. So I’m used to feeling low about the team. But this is one of the most disappointing seasons, and therefore I’m having a hard time enjoying it. The team has the parts to be really good, but they’re just not really good. Even the Lob City era, I was not as dissapointed: they were always about the 3rd best team in the West, so I didn’t expect them to make the WCF (hoped, but not expected). But this team I feel is better, and therefore the feeling is worse.

This does not do us any good if we miss the playoffs. I know Lue has made good adjustments in past playoffs but my worry is that his tinkering or plain old not knowing what the fuck to do with the lineups down the final stretch is going to prevent us from getting into the playoffs. We fucked around with tinkering all season and now we have as much of a chance as making the playoffs as we do missing the playoffs. I just don’t have very much confidence in him right now.

I hear you, but put that post in your pocket and save it for the offseason if playoffs don’t go our way. It’s been a rough ride, but the real season doesn’t start for another 6 weeks.

Paul George was on JJ’s podcast yesterday. Really really interesting to hear JJ’s take on our team and even more to hear PG speak about it.

JJ is super high on clippers, but also confused by our performance. Calls out point of attack defense as a major weakness and also says Mann better not get reduced down to 15 minutes a game.

PG was really compelling too. When you hear him speak about Kawhi, it’s clear he doesn’t see himself as a superstar elite player. He respects the heck out of Kawhi. He talks about how much you could feel it when Kawhi is on the court (I think PG is way better when Kawhi is not on the court).

He also calls out the schedule and lack of consecutive rest days and full practice that comes with consecutive rest days as one of the reasons the team hasn’t come together yet. He prefers the NBA schedule when we would have 4 games in 5 nights and then get an actual rest break to recover and get real practices in. Not a fan of spreading the games out.
