I hope that’s not the case. The hope this summer is that with multiple 1st round picks available to trade, plus EJ’s expiring deal, plus other expendable big deals, they could get something done to find a true 3rd piece. I don’t think you’re getting a 2nd star for what the Clips can offer.

Yea this season was not disappointing because of a lack of Kawhi and PG. It was disappointing because the team played like less than the sum of it’s parts.

I think, as always, the “enjoyment” of a team is always correlated with expectations, and unfortunately for this team, expectations were probably never higher. This was the first year all of Clippers history, I thought they were entering the season as the preseason favorite to win the championship. There wasn’t a single day this season they played like the championship favorite. Sure I as always the optimist thought that championship quality team was in there still, but they sure didn’t play like it during the regular season. The so called “depth” that the Clippers were supposed to have, more or less turned out to be 10 guys that should be like 5th through 10th best players on a good team, but the team still lacked like a 3rd and probably 4th “best” player you’d want on a true contender.

That paired with some very questionable rotational choices, which I KNOW isn’t the difference maker between being a 5 seed and the championship favorite, but still annoying enough to just make the overall experience less enjoyable.

With the season ending the way we’ve seen Clippers seasons end, time and time and time and time and time again, was just the final icing on the turd cake. Probably after winning Game 1, there was like 20 minutes of hope and enjoyment, but man was that short lived.

Free agency wise and cap space wise with 2 different max players could win more with our team then injured kawhi and pg13 being a lower end second tier star that has admitted he can’t be the number one player on a team! I mean even if it’s true who says that? We want our stars to think they’re the best in the world. Hell I want bones and Mann being fully confident as well , but our stars just seem timid and don’t believe which makes me NOT believe.

Well if kawhi and pg13 stay and we make another shake up , with load management injuries etc, chemistry will continue to kill us and we will never be ready for the playoffs . Now if it’s keeping mostly everybody chemistry wise and adding a new player or 2 then I would say chemistry wise we could?/be ok?
We didn’t have a long run after trade deadline with the roster especially with pg13 out but I would say by the time we lost to suns plumlee bones Gordon and Russ had some cohesion with our team and kawhi minus pg13.

I got you , but “ could play “ is always a stretch with kawhi.
Looking at the players you mentioned emblid is the only one with real injury concerns when comparing to kawhi.
I bet if we look at the last 5 years of reg season games played and even postseason games kawhi would be dead last easily.
Talent wise if he’s playing doesn’t take a genius to say it but he obviously top notch and way ahead of pg13 , but what’s the probability with all his previous injuries along with the new one that kawhi doesn’t load manage as much or ever gives us anything to really chase a chip off n the next two years let alone the clippers saying he’s there guy and talking extension for even more years? There hasn’t been one season with kawhi and pg13 when healthy where we had winning records against the bucks, denver , warriors , Philly etc. atleast I can’t remember it, where I was like man we’re the best team in the nba or legit top 3 . Always been an uphill battle health and chemistry wise and in my opinion even when both were healthy I don’t think they compliment the best? It was suooosed to be a wing league, best defensive 2 way roster of all time, even when healthy we get out rebounded , we don’t stop teams like we were supposed to , we don’t blow out anybody rarely. The teams that have more success except for maybe Boston have a legit big on there team way better then Zu . Are we better off trying to pair a star big and guard/forward instead of 2 forwards basically?
Warriors have an okay big in looney but also have draymond but they also have the 2 of the best shooters in steph and klay of all time. I’m just really questioning our 2 stars and how much of the cap they’re taking up from what we’re getting from them.
I see the FO running it back one more time, even though o don’t agree with it , I just don’t see it as anything close to lock that all of a sudden we’re gonna be a top 3 team next year that rarely loses and blows teams out. The nba is really good right now and even small market teams with youngsters are taking it to the contenders. This was a really hard season coming off last years bridge season with kawhi out. Losing patience man! Rebuild just seems more hopeful than the FO trying to dangle the carrot in front of us for another probable injury riddled/load managed season!

Even back during the Elton Brand, Corey, Kaman, QRoss days, we fielded an entertaining team, but that was nearly 20 years ago. Lob City and even the no All Star team with Lou and Trez were a lot of fun.

But, we need a Championship. Steve Ballmer didn’t spend all his time and money to entertain us. All loyal fans (like you, me and everyone else on this Board) want a Championship.

We received a really shitty hand — no other way to look at this season. Even writing this, I’m still bitter.

We have to find a way to pick up these broken pieces and get lucky with health.
