Moussa
Coffey
Kobe
Boston
Bones

Match their youth after a B2B with our key guy out; would have liked to see Moussa harass Chet

I wasn’t that impressed with OKC. We were able to keep that game close despite bad shooting and bad spacing b/c T-Mann didn’t have his shot early and just started passing off to others instead of continuing to shoot. I didn’t think OKC did much defensively to stop us other than gang up on shooters at the rim to force blocks and out hustle us for loose balls (which is what happens when 1 team is playing on the second night of a back to back and its 3rd game in 4 nights while having traveled to 3 different cities in a different time zone).

OKC shot 47% from 3. Here are the shooting percentages for OKC’s top 6 rotation players over their last 10 games (before tonight):

Holmgren: 30.6%
Jalen Williams: 33%
Giddey: 31.4%
Shai: 25%
Dort: 36.1%
Isaiah Joe: 27.8%

Needless to say, they were rested and shot a lot better with more wide open looks against a team that didn’t have the energy, had 2 guys dealing with flu symptoms, and 1 guy load managing.

The only concerning thing for the Clips tonight was T-Mann being in a bit of an offensive funk until he got some rhythm at the end in garbage time. I don’t think his ankle is 100% recovered and he definitely thinks about his balance and footing when shooting. Needs more treatment on the ankle, I think. That said, him missing wide open shots is a much better result than him passing it out to someone else and allowing opponents to clog the lane by doubling off him. Instead of going 0 for his first 6, he should’ve gone 0 for his first 10 or 12.

Zu also didn’t have a great game. He didn’t take advantage of his height to attack the rim. He passed out too much in deep post position and his short roll passes didn’t credibly give the defense the sense that he was serious about eating the rim.

PG also had a rather mediocre game despite a good stat line. Felt like he was just getting a work out in, playing between the 3 pt lines and not doing a whole lot inside the 3 pt line at either end.

Harden was a trooper. Started out 2/12 but then really heated up to keep the team in the game. I do think the next phase of the System should be to get T-Mann more touches in the offense. I’m sure that’s an on-going convo, but when a team is playing off him and clogging the lane, the best thing to do is to move that ball to his side and have him shoot it, drive it, or run give and go by taking advantage of the space provided. Do that a few times, knock down a few shots and the Clips will be up +9 easily. That’s pretty much what happened in the first half vs Dallas when Dallas clogged the lane and left both Coffey and Mann wide open. They both made shots and plays early and Dallas was left in the lurch.

Well onwards to face Boston. Looking forward to attending that game. I like the Clips’ chances to win.

We got 5. Safe to say that their spacing from the off-ball positions is superior

Ultimately we’re going to have to add a quicker/athletic stretch 4 but that’s nothing new. You could see the fatigue in our inability to board or get the 50/50 balls. It was a great streak and we’re back in the mix.

Onward.

It helps that they hired probably the best shooting coach away from the Spurs
