Health in terms of having smart players who know how to take care of themselves (LBJ) and training/medical staffs who maximize the ability for players to stay healthy. Luck in terms of not landing on somebody’s foot and not being in the path of someone’s elbow. Pro b ball is brutal on the body, no pads, very physical, huge guys. I’ll never say these guys are overpaid. I think our depth is pretty good, especially if Kennard can turn the corner and produce like he did vs. Wiz. At least he’s somewhat fresh from all his DNPs/CDs.

The point is that you need to stay healthy through the playoffs to get a shot. Lakers did last season. Miami did for 3 rounds and then lost 2 key players which helped the Lakers. The Warriors were healthy for like 4 seasons and then broke down which benefited the Raptors.

For the regular season every team is facing some problems but we face A LOT. Blazers are in the same league as us, but at least have Lillard carrying them. Lakers at least they have LeBron playing everything even if he is much older than our stars. Nets have so much firepower that they can even afford playing without KD and still win most RS games.

We are really good playing at full strength but we are not deep enough to afford losing 2 core players and still win games and it happens like all the time. What’s the longest streak we have played full strength over the last 2 seasons? And it’s also about the chemistry. Anytime it seems like we start rolling, someone breaks or is taken out for precautious and everything collapses.

Like the Nets and Blazers and even the Lakers now haven’t been hit with injuries? The problem we have is pretty simple. Kawhi and PG are jimmy Butler and Tracy MacGrady not MJ and Scottie. We pushed all our chips in believing they were the latter and as such we’re only able to surround them with over-achieving second round or late first round talents. Things aren’t black and white. Just because Kawhi isn’t the top five player we thought he was doesn’t mean he’s not top ten and the same goes for PG. both are outstanding but not what we had banked on. Without a third killer we’re toast in the second round again. Maybe sooner if the depression sets in. Let’s make some f-ing trades!

Like possibly above what he was doing for Toronto the year before. And then we didn’t close out and maybe he got injured and we never knew? I don’t know. He’s had flashes this season but the clutch play has been really, really disappointing and continues the trend of those last 3 games in the playoffs.

It’s weird that I feel more confident when PG plays and Kawhi doesn’t than vice versa.

This might be the biggest problem that causes all the other. This team is so fragile (not to say soft): Kawhi missing 8 games so far, PG 11, Morris 10, Bev 10… That’s a lot for your core group and we have not even been seriously struck by COVID as some others have.

With the depth we have (or do not have), we must be really lucky to be at full strenght for a period of at least 2 months (4 playoffs series) to have a shot. Very unlikely, considering the number of injuries over the last 2 years.

Paul George locked in for 5 years though is a different story!

The end of the world is staring the clippers ship right in the face, we either find a way to break through it or we crash burn and drown.
However I have a funny feeling kawhi gonna resign with us regardless, gonna be really hard for him to walk away from what he initially came here to do .
Never know though the nba is so unpredictable yet at the same time predictable .
