Makes some sense, however the season is young and it’s a bit premature to make changes so quickly, but if the FO makes a quick bold move I’ll be supporting it.
It has been said that they’re trying to get Lou Zu acclimated to gelling more. Curious on what you guys think about the “type of player that could could help Zu/the bench/possibly mook ?
Spot up shooter with better D like what we’re talking about/hill? Or just someone who can playmake better then Lou? can Zu and Lou get some Lou Trez chemistry going? PnR ? Pick and pop option would be ideal but we’ve yet to see Zu be trusted enough to shoot those shots.
Zu seems like he mostly thrives deep in the paint next to the basket. ?
Like I said the season is so young gotta see some more minutes/games/plays/ schemes will do before we make a trade where we lose Lou who even though might be a little cold lately has been with the team almost the longest? And knows his role and seems to be ok with no having to “have” to go ham on scoring every night to help us win. Zu and Lou are obvious the ones that might need to sacrifice for the team with the new offense/system ty is running. Mook could be either or, might have to sacrifice more coming off the bench or he ends up getting more touches on the bench and his stats rise more towards his gaudy Knicks numbers, either way mook off the bench most likely could take away from Zu and Lou anyways.
Maybe Lou and Zu become our best trade assets where we can add better fitting wing/players for the bench? Not trying to trade Zu but simply throwing it out there that he and Lou might be the best assets we have.

He started off the year hot, but even in those games, he was best used as a spot up shooter. If you’re using Lou as a spot up shooter, I think there are much better options out there.

When his shots aren’t falling, it really hurts. I think he still takes too many bad shots. And I don’t expect him to get better over the course of the year.

I think George Hill is the obvious replacement, as another PG, but to be honest, a wing would probably make for a more balanced roster. Sure, relying on Reggie to be like the primary backup PG is a scary thought, but they’ve been playing like the 3 guard lineup a lot anyways. The best option would be to build up Reggie’s value and trade him, but with his minimum salary, the options to bring in a rotation level player is going to be pretty minimal. and Reggie does happen to be like best friends with one of our stars.

Would be really interesting what Lou’s value is around the league. I don’t see too many obvious landing spots for teams that would want him to actually contribute. Might have to get the best return on him as an expiring contract and include the Detroit 2nd rounders.

If Lou’s traded for a more obvious upgrade the sentimental feelings fly right out the window for me, (yeah I know not much loyalty but we’re fans)
Idk know about rondo, that seems even more riskier imo unless he gets bought out? Don’t remember if he’s on a 1 year deal with Atlanta or not.?
But I haven’t even seen him play this year yet and also when deadline deals seem more of a gamble while we’re trying to have chemistry and continuity to improve from last year, even with all rondos warts I’d feel really nervous about adding him to be the main playmaker off the bench for the playoffs and expecting him to be 1.healthy2. Be able click to click with the bench in the little amount of time they would have after the trade deadline and into the playoffs. Also I was super shocked rondo got paid that much by Atlanta. I was thinking min-bae level contact and he got paid like ibaka for Christ’s sakes.

I know his scoring is way down but I see him trying to fight through screens more and actually knocking balls loose. He’s also far more focused on distributing because he’s the most reliable ball handler in the 2nd unit. My hope is that he cares more about winning a ring than racking up points at this stage but time will tell if he adjusts. Hill is probably more playable the deeper the playoff run but Lou could explode and shorten a series on any given night in the early rounds. My conspiracy theory is that Rondo signed with Atlanta for just under what Lou makes with a mid-season trade in mind. This way Rondo gets paid a lot more than the VM we could only have offered and Lou goes home.

His defensive liability however I agree, hill could be that 3and D guy for sure, maybe even playmake as good or even better in our offense instead of Lou but I’m not sure I’m 100% on that trade right now. Kinda sketchy imo.
We do have kennard and sometimes Reggie who can playmake a bit so maybe I should want a Lou-hill trade more then I do?! Fuck, Lou can make some pretty tuff shots!
Hill has always seemed to impress me playing against us, it’s hard one for me lol

Ty’s ball movement” letting kawhi and pg13 make the plays offense, opens up the lane for them to drive and kick more imo move the ball, keep the defense guessing and gambling.
Zu in the paint just clogges and minimizes the options imo
Whereas ibaka still has to be guarded out by the three point line and his passing seems better then zu’s. He also seems a little more mobile then big Zu.
Zu needs to keep working on his action with Lou, trying to impact the game in other ways off the bench and for sure he needs to work on not fouling as much. Imo he’s adjusting, the bench is adjusting, pg13 staggered in there needs to adjust more to Zu as well.
I’m still very happy with ibaka with the starters, Zu has way more defensive responsibilities off the bench having to cover for Lou Reggie kennard etc. mook should help the bench on the defensive end. Zu is used to having kawhi pg13 Bev and mook helping on D.
Zu being on the 1st unit last year helped him look better then I imagine he actually is, I give him credit but the difference between the starters and the bench is huge.

Kennards three pointer that he barely got off and almost got blocked was key, and also his penetration -hesitation moves for floaters and little four foot midrange jump shots work really well.

Batums mobility, ability to defend pretty well without fouling , passing and shooting is perfect for the starters. Putting our third option mook with the bench is gonna help out tremendously on both sides O and D in due time. Super stoked to see him humble up and offer to come off the bench, he got his money but he doesn’t need the shine mentality is awesome. Season still young, I’m sure ty will juggle some lineups here there and mook could move back with starters depending on what works and doesn’t, nothings final but I commend his attitude towards doing what’s best for the TEAM!

Pg13 is a totally different player this year with the coaching/player changes and he makes our team a totally different team, a much better team, more fluid, more chemistry and better team ball for us fans to enjoy. I hope he keeps it going. He’s been better then kawhi imo so far but again it just might be the offense and coaching changes so I’m not saying he’s better then kawhi!
Grabbing another wing like Lucas said in the write up later on however it’s done trade/buyout etc I agree could benefit the team more and we could see less luke Lou Reggie shared time on the floor. Ariza could be bought out at some point later on maybe tucker or somebody else as well but for now I like how we look and how we’re playing.
Last year seemed like every game there was something to panick about and the team just never gave me the confidence with the hype that the team had.
When we’re down in games this year i feel way more confident that we’re gonna continue to fight and stay in it different from last year when everyone just iso hero’d shit to try and get back in it.
Team is playing like a team, keep it going.
And kawhi choosing to play in back 2 backs is a fucking god send. Love his attitude this year and glad he’s feeling well enough to want to do it.
Most all the things that I wanted fixed from last year are fixed or a work in progress. No complaints here!
