He lost a lot with those injuries but his ability to make 3/4ths of his free throws isn’t one of them. He was 74.6% in his 25-game spell with Houston this year, and 73.6% with GSW the year prior to last. The 1-4 in his Clipper debut just isn’t a significant data point worth worrying about.

It was a “delicious” win. No hate just a DMC observation that the team will factor into its decision during this “tryout.” I didn’t think 2Pat had that much lift but he’s springy compared to DMC. Liked DMCs shooting touch cept for the missed FTs but he did swish one quite nicely so that looks curable. Let’s see if Ty throws him in vs. Ayton. If the can hold his own, that’d be a very good sign.

1. Blazers seemed to be able to get whatever they wanted inside. Easy rim driving and pretty easy layups. After the makes, our guys looked at each other as if saying “WTF just happened.”

— You saw the adjustment in the 2nd half by playing Patt all those min & having everyone help on the boards.. Kawhi snagged alot of them but there were always 2-3 guys battling with Patt being the primary box out guy on Kanter

2. Cousins missed free throws: get in the gym DMC. And, I know he’s a big guy, takes up space BUT did anyone notice the guy has very lil lift. Concerning?

— Yes he has very lil lift, never had much to begin with, but NO, it’s not concerning as the 3rd string guy who everyone seems to love! Put the hate aside & enjoy the TEAM

The reality:

2. Ty Lue trusts his vets more than the young guys ala Doc. It’s a slap of realty for Zu, Mann and Luke.

— Not a slap in the face to anyone! Last night was a great coaching job by Lue! He had a plan, that didn’t involve Mann & Luke much, & that planned was executed to nearly perfection by everyone

It’s only been 2 games but you see what he brings to the table.. This team needed a change from the “cool, nonchalant” vibe they gave off & played with

The Nets have possibly the top 3 scorers in the game right now along with one of the best shooters in the game & another who’s playing well.. Mix in the vets who’ve been there before who aren’t asked to carry a team & you have problems! They’ll make games competitive through 3 & half quarters but I don’t see how they close games, especially with how bad doc is.. They’ll get 2 games max

He’s surpassed my expectations (everyone’s really) & has earned min but I don’t think he’s a guy who NEEDS to play.. As good as he’s been, he’s been getting those extra min due to injury.. With guys getting healthy (hoping it stays that way all year) he was gonna lose min regardless.. The shocker to me was Reggie being the 1st guard off the bench.. Thought that he’d get relegated to 3rd string duties but nope.. After the performance from last night, I have zero problem with him slotting into the backup point & shooting guard position.. You lose some rebounding & aggressive point of attack defense but you get a better shooter, who also gets to the bucket, & a smarter team defender.. The matchup also allowed Lue to play small in the backcourt so I’m sure matchups will dictate min also.. Another thing, I see Reggie getting a quick hook if he’s not playing well so..

But again, this is about seeing what you have in Rondo.. Tinkering with lineups (how Lue did early in the season) & using this as a dress rehearsal for the playoffs.. The schedule is gonna ease up, so I’m sure we’ll see plenty of Mann & Luke min

If Rondo and Cousins are playing like ass out there and the team is floundering, all I really want is a coach who’s capable of seeing that, and switching it up in response. I think Lue’s shown enough this season for us to say that he isn’t as stubborn and/or blindly loyal as Doc (e.g. see Atlanta game), so I’m hopeful that Mann and Luke will still get their chances going forward, if/when Rondo/Cousins/Reggie struggle.
