We don’t have an offense. We take bad shots because 75% of our plays are Kawhi/PG13/MM isos and then if/when that fails relying on Reggie to hit a bail out jumper.

Watched Q2. There were segments of that quarter where the offense looked so much better. The reason: we were not looking to force feed 3s. There was a lot of driving and cutting opening up easier shots towards the basket and in the mid range area. The hustle and willingness to fight for and win loose balls was much better. However, Minnesota went on a late run when the Clips got sloppy, reverting back to bad shot selection.

I think this game has been quite revealing with respect to what the Clips’ problems are. We just have really bad shot selection. We’re choosing to force feed inefficient 3 pt shots instead of taking advantage of our ability to get initial dribble penetration, forcing the defense to move and dictating where the optimal shots will be by moving to open spaces where higher percentage shots are available.

We also think that everyone should shoot 3s. Luke Kennard can shoot 3s. Robert Covington is a much more effective and entertaining player when he is not throwing up 3s, for example. Terance Mann doesn’t need to settle for 3s when he’s very good in the mid range area and has been finishing at the rim with authority.

We just have to be more judicious and discriminating about who gets to shoot from what spots.
