He does more things well. Yes, there were chemistry and fit issues but that was more on Ty, and we know from last year that he adapted well by January. Dunn coming off the bench as a defensive specialist who can play 30 mins if he’s going well offensively was always a better option. But we have none of that depth now. Just really short sighted by the F.O. They pissed away a promising season.

How can you possibly go from playing great team ball, to sucking that bad?

I’m completely over Kawhi. He’s never going to be close to the same player. If your star player can never play a back-to-back, what’s the purpose? How many back-to-backs are there? 6? 7? 8? That’s 6 to 8 losses. I liked this team when he was unavailable earlier in the year. Trade him this summer.

Harden. I’m sick of him also. He’s a turnover machine. Over dribbling and getting trapped continually is a Harden staple. Please do not pick up your option.

Why wasn’t Zu getting the ball every time down the court? No one on the Suns could handle him.

This is a memo to Harden and Kawhi: The big guy wearing 40 is on our side. Give him the ball.

Why is Dunn shooting 3’s at critical times? He should never be put in that position.

Bogi is finished.

Memo to the FO: Stop trying to build this team around Kawhi. Just stop it. Do not trade anymore draft picks.

I went from loving this team to “I can’t stand them.”

I don’t think they can make the playoffs, and so what if they did. They would only be embarrassed.

It took them 6 years to recover until they made another disastrous big swing in 2019 with the KD, Kyrie and then Harden folly. It’s been another 6 years since then and look at them now. We are the west coast Nets folks.

As mentioned previously, the only three valuable assets we have are Zu, Ty and Norm. Some contender is going to come up short this year because of a lack of size up front and will be interested in Zu. Might be able to get some good pieces back. I can see a team like the Knicks getting sick of Thibs and being interested in trading for Ty. Might possibly be able to get a package of decent younger players for Norm. DJJ and Dunn might be useful role players but not much return for them. No one wants any of the rest of our filler.

We are stuck with Kawhi and Harden at least until next year’s trade deadline and even then I’m not sure if there would be any risk takers. The two places that might have been desperate to roll the dice on Kawhi were the Lakers and Golden state who have Luka and Butler instead now. Kawhi would refuse to play anywhere else. Harden is an expiring but $35 million is a big chunk to give up for an old guy who fades in March.

There has been lot of speculation that Denver is going to go hard after KD this offseason and it makes a ton of sense. Porter, Braun and picks. If that happens they will be close to as good as the Hampton Warriors so all the hopefuls better win it this year before that door slams shut.

Name me one team that has someone as bad at offense as him taking their deciding shots nearly every game? There should be roles on this team for role players. Not the same guys playing to end every game no matter the game situation.

Harden is clearly on fumes now though, he can’t shoot and keeps chucking.

I get that Dunn might be the best defensive guard in the league, he’s special on that end but his offense is atrocious. No great teams are putting the game on the line with a guy like Dunn shooting for the game. Use him strategically and he’s great, but for some reason we let our whole offense collapse because he’s good at steals.

Unfortunately he signed a long-term extension last offseason, so good luck dropping him. Maybe we could fleece the Mavs into trading for him.

The NBA really is doing everything possible to make me not want to watch.

But even if you do everything right process-wise, it doesn’t mean shit if you don’t get results. And we haven’t gotten results in years. Step 1 of this offseason should be to gut the FO – especially the draft room/scouts. Step 2, after hiring a new, fresh (i.e. not Ty’s people) FO, should be to make everyone available for trade minus Zu. For pennies on the dollar, I don’t even care. Get whatever we can get in terms of draft assets, and burn it all the ground.

My throat is sore after calling for this for the last two years.

This Suns team was not playing NBA level defense for about 3 quarters. Kawhi couldn’t physically handle the heat being turned up a bit when the Suns injected a bit of energy into their lineup.

Here’s a thought experiment: imagine we had a Jaylen Williams or Denny Avdija type forward: young, athletic, strong, capable of putting up numbers. Let’s say that player took the bulk of minutes at the 3/4 while Kawhi had been out and was producing 17/5/3 every night while shooting in the high 40s and being pretty good defensively. Wouldn’t that player simply eclipse Kawhi and we’d move him into a different, diminished role?

Kawhi Leonard may not be a regular NBA starter anymore. He’s more like a Bill Walton or Mychal Thompson in the later part of their careers: a former all star who remains very skilled but is physically unable to handle the burdens of starter minutes and a starter role. Those two were both overqualified role players who elevated their teams to be championship caliber. Kawhi seems to me to fit better in that context. However, at his salary that’s hard for a team to afford.

I just don’t see how the team can build with Kawhi as its anchor. They need to revert to the plan they had at the beginning of the year: built a team that doesn’t require Kawhi be that anchor.

If it were me, I’d sell high on either Norm Powell or Kris Dunn and attach the Kawhi contract to the package. Powell and Dunn have proven to be difference makers. If teams take Kawhi’s contract along with one of them, they can say they will have improved.
