What we saw happen in the game was a tweak, so either something horrible has happened—again—or he’s being weird about himself—again.

The fact we were up 3 at the half was pretty surprising. The fact we were screwed in the seoond half was completely expected. But, again, going with Batum did us no favors. Don’t know much about Collins as a person but he seems like a good team guy. Probly realizes the pecking order and the loyalties for the existing guys and is just biding his time.

But he is not a “winner”. I don’t think he will ever take a team to the next level. HIs nickname should be “the Plateau” rather than the “The System”, since he will get you to a good level, but never higher.

As a STH holder, I’ve always felt he was scoring but not ever leading the Clips to victory

That suggests to me that Ballmer may be thinking about blowing the whole thing up because if you’re investing in Ja, you’re moving off James Harden.

If it were me, I’d suggest replacing the coach now, seeing if a new coach can realize the vision of the FO, and then making a move at the deadline (if the experiment is still failing) or at the end of the season.

If LAC is thinking of trading a star, I think it should be Kawhi. The team has already proven that it can win games without him. I don’t honestly think we would’ve won more than 20 games without James last year (same applies this yr). Also, Kawhi fits a lot of team’s systems more easily than James does. James is a system; he has to be the center and focal point of the offense; and b/c of that he had a more limited market when LAC got him from Philly.

You can put Kawhi on any of the good teams in the NBA today and you know he’s going to produce buckets. He’s a bucket getter and you can embed his game in any system.

I also don’t think Ja is better than James because James is one of the best 3 pt shooters off the bounce in league history. Ja is a below average 3pt shooter.

We’ll see, but the vibe I get is that the LAC situation isn’t static and a lot of people are thinking about whether the team’s poor start is pushing the inflection point forward as opposed to the end of the season.

As a guy who really liked our vet laden roster, I got a major kick watching Cam operate. So refreshing to watch a young, long, lean, aggressive player being effective out there. Suddenly Booker had someone who bothered him. Not saying Christie’s the savior (altho he mite be) but it takes me back to when Kawhi demanded that he be paired with PG rather than with the green SGA. Now we have Kawhil potentially being paired with Cam — better late than never I guess. And before I leave Cam, I also got a kick watching brother Max go to Dallas and light things up there. Both are very capable guys with high upsides. Pedigree. Now for the rest of the story:

Bogi vs. Beal — no contest there–it’s Bogi right now
Collins as a starter? For sure
Baturm– washed–doesn’t have anything to make us competivie
Brook–gotta stick to the inside game where he can be effective
Conan–play him more than 4 mins please.
Dunn/DJJ—solid guys who it in anywhere
CP3–there’s a place for him — better cntributor than Batum at this point–but that’s not saying much
Ty—like JPs idea of moving JVG up to Ty’s spot .

Back to Christie—I’d start him (yes I know–only one game but give him a boost of confidence and the team a youth injection) next to James with Zu, Kawhi and Collins.
Very exciting to see a young guy having a good game and some fun out there.

As to the next game, got to limit Booker and Green (and wipe that smirk off his face) or we go down again.

Starters: Harden, Dunn, Kawhi, Collins, Zu
2nd Unit: Bogi/CP3, Christie/Beal, DJJ, Batum/Kobe B, Lopez/YCN
Staggered lineup 1: Bogi, Dunn, Kawhi, DJJ, Zu
Staggered lineup 2: Harden, Bogi, Collins, DJJ, Lopez

I’d initially send CP3, Beal to the deep bench/garbage time and/or limit them to one 5 min segment.

Brook would still be the backup center, but his 15 minutes get cut to 7 and we play the kid YCN for 5-7 min.

Christie gets 7-10 min per game, but I suspect he’d end up with more b/c he’s so much more athletic than Beal, CP3 and complements our vets.

The starters have to play 30-32 min. Among the 2nd unit guys, DJJ and Bogi would play the most mins.

With these lineups opposing teams really don’t get a break against the Clippers. We have size and skill combos and can compete at both ends.

The joke on social media was that Beal was Phx’s best player. They also noted that it was odd that Collins was not starting with Kawhi out.

The only way to get Ty Lue to change his ways and adjust to the roster he actually has and to the league as it presently exists (as opposed to the squad he wanted and the style of play he preferred (the ‘going small’ era) is for more public scrutiny and, frankly, more failure on the court.

The avg defensive net rating with Beal is 138, which might be among the highest (i.e., worst) in recorded history. Eventually, if you keep trotting out the same bad lineup, people notice, pressure mounts and change happens.

I don’t want to see Lopez or CP3 again. ZERO minutes.

Christie can play. Use him. The young center should be getting in games.

Collins is the new Covington. Collins needs to start. The starting unit must become bigger.

Beal comes off the bench until he proves he is reliable.

If this continues, trade Leonard and Harden and obtain some serviceable player and draft picks at the deadline. Some contending teams will need them.

When Kobe Sanders comes off his injury, start playing him. Start the rebuild.

This team is way over the expiration date.

It only took Lue 8 games this year. I cannot stand him as a coach.

Here we are.

If we have one of James or Kawhi back we should win the next two games and get back to 500. Assuming there aren’t anymore significant injuries the put up or shut up game will be verses Denver. This team was built to compete with them so we’ll see where we’re at Wednesday.

Ty doesn’t give a shit about the regular season which is why we haven’t had home court in the first round the last four seasons. Since we’re destined for another lower seed, let’s just start navigating the season one game at a time with a few winning and losing streaks per usual and see how it all shakes out. Somewhere between 45–55 wins.

If everything implodes we should be able to offload most everything before the trade deadline and finally turn the page on 213.

Most of Harden’s contract for next year is not guaranteed so if we can move Kawhi for a couple of young players or a salary dump that would be awesome.
