Coach Lue not using his personnel properly? We sound like a broken record.

I listened to the Podcast today, and I am just bummed out about how little, Coach Lue is using T. Mann.

Still shaking my head about Mr. Ballmer giving Coach Lue that extension.

On the bright side, we are still in the mix. Praying that our geezers Harden and KL can stay healthy for a long (and successful) Playoff run in the late spring and early summer.

Yea, the Clips played poorly and lost a game they probably should’ve won. But hey, at least they didn’t get blown out by the Embiid-less, Paul George-less Sixers while also losing their best player to an injury. Brutal night for that other LA team.

Too many good shooters on that Suns team and they made very timely shots. Dunn would have really helped by harassing them a bit more. Their shooters are better than ours. Gotta give us credit for not giving up and giving us a chance to steal it. The knock on Amir’s D is valid– Dunn needs to mentor him. We can play better–bounce back game manana.

NBA last 2 minutes report. Should have been a foul on Plumlee when Zu dunked with 2 minutes left. Chance for a 3 pt play, which changes what is soon after a 1 pt game to a tie.

More importantly: Plumlee’s 6th foul. That would have changed the game.

Yup. I was thinking that the key to the game was Dunn not being available. He’s the crucial ingredient that can slow down Booker and take away a bunch of easy shots. But you’re right–when you don’t have him, that’s when you have to give Terance extra minutes, not fewer. This was also a game where you’d want to try using Kobe Brown for some minutes, with his motor, rebounding, and physicality.

The TLTJTP guys discussed Kobe at some length after the Milwaukee win, but they never mentioned the fact that he had a sore back and he was hurt and unavailable for a long period, 12 games (#s 21-32) from 11/27 to 12/30, before Kawhi started up his season. It was a major misfortune and missed opportunity for him to improve and play his way into the kind of spot minutes the Clippers could have used in this game.

Just a bummer not getting a win in this one, and losing momentum.

It was the best of Tymes. It was the worst of Tymes.

Bad loss for the Clippers. I pin this one on Lue for a bad defensive approach. Without Dunn, the guy he needed to play was T-Mann. Dunn and Mann are the only 2 guards who constantly work to chase shooters off the 3 pt line. Phx took a gazillion open 3 pt shots. The adjustment was made for about 6 mins. Clips played at Phx's pace, played no defense (outside of Zu) and gave up a ton of wide open looks. That won't get it done in this league.
Amir Coffey had a terrible game, but that's on Ty. I was critical of him during the Milwaukee win, but he can't be out there for 31 mins only putting up 5 shots while being a liability on defense. Booker and co had their way with him. T-Mann defends Booker/KD well (and did so in his brief stint on the court).
Kawhi has his moments, but let's be real: he's a good player right now, not a great one. He can't anchor the team the way that Harden does. Harden didn't have as strong a game as he did vs Milwaukee but he got 6 big points at the end to give the team a shot at a win.
Ty Lue has a deep bench but has to use it correctly. He didn't do that vs Phx.

A possible trade opportunity may have arisen tonight with Deane Wade going down for Cleveland. They could use a guy like Mann regardless and now they are even thinner at the wing position. We could send Mann to the Cavs, who could send Niang’s contract and a couple of 2nds to Toronto for us to receive KO or CB without our having to give up any draft picks. This is a win for everyone and we’re not sending Mann to Siberia.

I continue to believe that whichever Big we add must also be able to play along side Zu to offer more length on D, help on the glass and stretch the floor. Otherwise Zu and our wings are going to just burn out from expending so much energy—especially with our having to play what seems like every other night for the rest of the season.

Another backup ogre would be helpful, but it only solves that one issue.

Ty and the front office lost this game. Playing Mo stupid. Encouraging KPJ to chuck stupid. Going small too long stupid. And watching Zu on an island at both ends for the majority of the game was just sad. Even worse was watching DDJ and Coffey flailing away above their weight trying to check KD. They did the best they could but that’s just futile. We’d better resolve this second big problem sooner than later.

Hopefully Kawhi comes out the other side of this healthy. The increase in minutes are at least one hopeful take away.
