Clips did a good job checking their bad tendencies to settle for long jumpers and not get back on defense when they got a lead. They got sloppy at one point in Q1. Lue called time out. Afterwards, they got serious and really never looked back. Reggie/Norm had their 4th game in a row with productive time on the floor together. Wall’s injury may well be an example of addition by subtraction. How Ty Lue and the F.O. deal with that roster issue will ultimately decide the trajectory of the regular season, imho.

Kawhi/PG were sublime. I had no idea until I saw the box score that they had over 50 points combined (62), I thought Zu looked good and is taking more care with the ball and getting into his bag of post moves as he approaches the basket. Zu is fully capable of winning big games with his post up game, but he has to take better care of the ball and be more disciplined with his post moves. Covington looked like he was playing to keep his job. Kennard looked in sync with the team despite having missed time. I liked his body language on looking to score even when a defender is on him.

Terance Mann fell into some bad habits of driving into the paint with no intent to score. He has to avoid that in the upcoming road trip. Batum continues to do Batum things.

The challenge for the Clips really begins now as they embark on a 6 game road trip before the trading deadline. ATL, CLE, CHI, MIL, NY, BKLYN are on the schedule. They need to go 4-2 on this trip, but there’s really no reason why they shouldn’t win all 6 games. They have Kawhi/PG and the other teams don’t. They’re probably facing Cleveland without Mitchell, NYK without Mitchell Robinson in the middle and Brooklyn without KD.

I like Naz, but acquiring him alone is gonna be tricky because of how cheap his contract is. Like if the TWolves are willing to take Coffey and a 2nd or something that works, but like we can’t ship out Wall for him w/o adding more guys from the TWolves to the trade. I’d still rather get John Collins, but obviously Naz Reid should require way less in terms of compensation so I’d be happy if the FO swung a deal for Reid.

Naz Reid is the 4/5 we need to balance the tables against the Denver’s and Memphis’s of the world. He comes at a minimum price that would not hurt us in the long run and also has the potential to re-up with us at a reasonable rate.

This ^ … we won’t be able to get past Denver, Memphis or NO without an athletic rebounding PF that can defend. JC checks all those boxes. I could also see JC have a renaissance much like Aaron Gordon did.

Yes. Tired of watching the Gordon’s of the World leaping over us and not being able to really defend stretch 4s on the perimeter either. Getting a long athletic 4 would go a long way in rectifying these issues. That we drafted Moussa informs us that this is a glaring need that the FO also sees. I’m warming up to the idea of Naz Reid now too. Didn’t realize he was such a decent free throw shooter. This normally bodes well for a big developing a reliable three ball.
