Having Garland back will be easier for Kawhi, but Spurs quickly doubling on Kawhi — that is going to be tough for us.

Kawhi needs to attack early or pass quickly, move then get the ball back.

We start the season by losing Beal then sending CP home.
Later, we trade Harden and Zu.
Then, DG & Collins can’t play for a while.
And now we lose Yanic for the season and beyond.
Oh and we traded Norm away in the past offseason and he holds grudge for us and I don’t blame him.
I wasn’t surprised when Kawhi said that the season is over.
Being Clips’ fan is not easy.
I would lie if I say this is gonna be fine coz I have no idea what’s going to happen.
But I still believe we will find the way to fight another day, somehow, some way.
Believe in our guys and our “Next Man Up Mentality”.

Forced myself to watch the game again and as much as I bash Ty I actually think this was one of his better efforts. The simple truth is that once they got back to within 10 we had no one who could get buckets but Kawhi. We were a collection of role players versus young stars in their gym and doomed. If I can lay the blame on any single person it has to be mathurin, who could only manage 8 points. He missed some important free throws and a couple other shotshe should have made and that was probably the difference. 25% from the field. Ugh! Until someone can step up and punish the opposition when they key in on Kawhi we’re going to keep losing these close games. We really need reps with Garland, Kawhi and Mathurin to establish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd actions. Catch and shoot grenades from our role players ain’t going to cut it.

Was asking myself if we’d have done better with Zu and Harden is this one and I honestly don’t believe so. Brook was fantastic tonight and we could never have gotten up by 20 at the half with our defense with Harden. So they would have just overtaken us sooner. Every once in awhile a team just needs to get a lucky one and the ball just didn’t bounce our way. A win here would have put us in pole position for the 7 seed and now we’re back to needing a magic lamp and three wishes to quote Seiman. Warriors got OKC tomorrow so we have to get the W in Memphis. We’ll be getting the Knicks and Wolves on 2nd night of b2b for both so perhaps we can snag one of those too.

Exactly right–somehow that was unbelievably Clipper. We’re used to it, but it never gets old.

Very low expectations, a good amount of YKN depression going in, hopeful to find some way to compete. Such good vibes in the first half and going up 25. Math looked shaky and subpar, sadly just not quite what the Clips need him to be.

Jackson was great–but he wasn’t able to help in the 2nd half. Great Brook game, got to give him credit. He wasn’t able to close things out either, unfortunately. Clips have all sorts of strong players–DJ seems more clutch; Miller is better in the middle innings, but he didn’t get anything going after the tide turned; Dunn makes plays and wrecks havoc, but he falls short.

It’s a real joy to watch Kawhi keep balling, healthy and playing hard. He took that final 3 with 5 seconds on the shot clock–should have gone to the basket.

Big thing for the Clips was showing the SAS fans and the league how clutch D. Fox can be, like he was two years ago–I don’t know that he’s put on that kind of show for the Spurs yet. Sometimes playing the Clippers inspires guys. Fox showed that he’s playoff ready, while Harper and Castle looked like they need more seasoning.

And Wemby was nuts. They held him back after all the minutes he played last night, and he still hit really big shots and made plays.

Front end of a back to back. Saw lots of good stuff in this game. Defeat a bit hard to take, but it’s already getting better. On to the next, get Garland back, and then Collins, and get into the easy part of the (busy) schedule. Should be interesting to match up against this team again at home in 10 days.

Mathurin was pretty weak. Wasn’t sharp, didn’t step up. Still an asset, but he has good games and bad games. This wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite good enough.

A lot of bad Math tonight. I like him, but I don’t think he’s developed the skill set for the game he wants to play. Contrast him with Jordan Miller and you see the difference. Miller doesn’t have Math’s athleticism, but from a pure hoops standpoint, Miller is the better hooper. If Mathurin could get that kind of refinement in his game, he could be a borderline great player.
