I mean, yes, obviously if it’s open take it, but there’s no reason he can’t also do other stuff like take it to the basket when guys chase him off the 3-pt line. Batum has been huge for us this season. Best minimum contract in the NBA, and it’s not particularly close.

We needed him last year even when injured to be the clubhouse/emotional leader but this year with Kawhi/PG more assertive and Serge, Nic and now Rondo not to mention Mann’s evolution we have several leadership fulcrums.

But the stats don’t lie. This team is elite with Bev in the starting lineup. We still need him as part of the playoff mix. We just aren’t as dependent upon him.

He almost got us out of the game in the slow and lethargic 1st quarter showing he put in. And the turnovers is another area I’d like to see him shore up. Always room to get better and we need him flawless come playoff time.

I’m over the whole Pat Bev thing. We need to stop living in the 2017-2019 nostalgia. Pat, Lou, and Trezz were great scrappy high energy overachievers but there’s a reason they were journeymen packaged up as a poo poo platter by Houston for the CP3. They did a wonderful job for us those years, but all those guys are flawed player that aren’t going to win you chip. We’ve moved on from Trezz and Lou, now it’s time to do the same with Bev. His health is too fragile, he has a LOW basketball IQ with the stupid fouling, and other than spot up shooting he has no other offensive game, and he’s not a great playmaker/passer. Maybe we can use him in spot minutes as an energy guy off the bench (although even there T Mann is a better option IMO), but his time in the starting line-up definitely needs to end.
