For those looking to win the chip this year, it ain’t happening. OKC is revolutionizing the game and they won’t lose more than 2 more games this regular season and probably no more than 3 in the playoffs. No team should really make a ‘win now’ move.

The right move for the Clippers would be to trade Kris Dunn and open up the 2/3 wing spot to a rotation of Sanders, Miller and Christie. I would also look to get rid of Brook Lopez’ contract, buy him out or just permanently bench him to open up the spot for YKN. LAC needs to know what they have in him. Kobe Brown doesn’t feature in LAC’s plans and should be dealt as a part of a package.

The reason LAC needs to start integrating the young guys is because they’ve been schooled in AAU ball which is the OKC model. OKC has fundamentally changed the league and the emphasis will be on getting players who can do multiple things and are fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. A soft rebuild where 3 or 4 young guys integrate into a rotation with 2 older vets and an anchor center in Zu is a way for LAC to remain competitive while building a new type of team capable of competing in the new era.

This is actually an ideal season for LAC to develop their youth while still having 3 star level players in the rotation. LAC needs the young guys to help them win games because Kawhi and Harden can’t do that anymore despite their good stats.

I doubt that Lawrence Frank and Ty Lue are the right fit for this model, but if you’ve watched OKC at all this season, it should be readily apparent that the guard has changed, there is a new empire in town and OKC is going to own the championship for at least the next 2 if not 3 seasons.
