Loved the SB Nation Bad Boys blog. High IQ, passionate fans, so funny and fatalistic. Last night it was Piston refugees Reggie J vs. Broken Stanley.

Once he cleans that up I think his ceiling for this team could be incredibly high. Can’t jump anymore but everything else seems as it’s ever been. He makes up for his lack of vertical with his quick hands, timing and strength. Re Reggie, he’s our most clutch shooter hands down. I think there’s definitely a role for him but it will vary from matchup to matchup and game to game. God do we need Serge back. It’s the one fissure in our armor. These 6’10” tweeners are killing us.

I’m just saying, when Bev gets back in rhythm and shape let’s see a substantial amount less Reggie. Do definitely wish Rondo had Reggie’s 3point capability. Mann and Rondo somehow seem to generate points together but you don’t like their 3 ball chances. We’ll see. 6 more games to iron out the kinks? I’m not holding my breath for Ibaka’s return and I suspect this is the team moving forward. Regardless of his flaws I’m ecstatic that we have Cousins. And now it’s officially a ramble

That’s a damn good bench rotation.

Reggie sometimes plays way out of control so that you’d think he was a knucklehead of sorts. But no. You hear him speak and he’s a smart, thoughtful guy. Gives me hope that we’ll see less and less of bad reggie. Ty’s starting him because he plays like a starter–hits big shots and wins us games. I see him playing a bunch in the POs.

I’m wrong about some FO decisions, (Lou for Rondo makes all the sense in the world to me now. Props to the faithful who called it. Think G-Rap may have been one of them) But one of my good calls was faith in Reggie. Check the threads if you care to but if you trust that I’m not full of beans my point was that the bubble was not a proper assessment of anything. Observe the Heat in the finals and Anthony Davis’s 3pt % for examples of what I’m talking about. I also stated that we could do much worse than a player a year removed from being a starting point guard in the NBA, bad team or not, as our 3rd string PG.
All that being said, and I knoooow he deserves more, I’m hoping that we are seeing a slow passing of the baton to Bev being the starter again, with Rondo as our primary backup (used situationally with the starters) I’m saying this after a great Reggie performance because I don’t want this to get lost in the inevitable flood of negativity that accompanies a bad night.
Firstly, defense. Bev/Rondo are going to put up the most fight on that end, and zoiks does that count in the play-off’s
Secondly, logic, and Reggies baffling lack of it sometimes. Even last night I saw Reggie force a layup contested by two defenders. In my mind it was a horrible play. He made the basket, but this thing had no purpose going through the net. I was happy it did, but I was cursing before that thing resulted in points.
He’s an impulsive player and that translates well in the regular season. He’s certainly done enough to see the floor. Definitely enough to steer the ship into the harbor at the end of games that we are clearly winning. Maybe even more. But most of the minutes?

As for Bev, loved his quick pass to PG in traffic for the slam. Good vision and teamwork right there. Pretty impressive performance for being out so long. Almost like he was never out at all.
Definitely a hard fought win vs. a team with faint play-in hopes. Hard to fathom hot shooting Lowry sitting after singlehandedly killing the Lakes.
