Listening to Ireland on the Lakes call last nite. Here’s his quote (in his best homeresque delivery) when the Lakes went up by 13 in the 4th: “The lakers are pouring it on and beating up the Kings right now,” strongly implying that the game was over so no need to keep listening. This guy, unlike Chick Hearn, NEVER criticizes his team–Never. To his credit, Michael Thompson does nudge the Lakes every now and again. Speaking of color man Thompson, it’s hight time for the Clips to give Noah Eagle a sidekick. Two heads are better than one Mr. Ballmer.

Plus, Lue doesn’t really trot out the Doc all-bench lineups that often and/or for long stretches anyways, so if it looked bad I think he’d be willing to pull the plug pretty quickly.

Bled, Luke, Mann, Ibaka, and Hartenstein would be really wonky defensively.

I think it mostly worked, even though I think I heard they ended with a negative in the box score (?). I do think defensively it was a bit awkward, but I think that was more based on the matchup. The Pistons played really small off the bench, with like Lyles, Diallo, Josh Jackson as their front court? Basically Lyles (a stretch big) and a bunch of guards. Made it a bit tough for the double-center lineup. I hope Ty tries it a few more times just to see how it works against other opponents.

I thought they should’ve tried it against the Mavs, who mostly play 2 bigs, even if one is on the perimeter, they’re not going to kill you with their athleticism. I think they’d have more success defensively against opponents that play more traditional lineups.

Made me also wonder if this is something sustainable, if it meant like Nico could be moved up into more the Kawhi role (ie. start at the SF spot). I think I’ve always assumed if someone was going to replace Bled in the starting lineup it would have to be Luke or Mann, but Nico has been so good this year, it might be nice if they can him minutes with the starters.

Overall the Clips brought their C game, but that was plenty because Detroit mostly brought their D game. I’m just happy we got a non-stressful game for a change- let’s keep it going!

If TL and the team want their crack at the Dubs then I can’t fault them for taking that on. I don’t think it’s impossible to win that game but it will be draining both emotionally and physically either way which sets up for the trap game against NOLA. Thankfully I was wrong about it being nationally televised so if Steph rips off 45 while munching on his mouth piece it won’t sting quite as badly. Love the way Serge looks. Maybe TL sees something in the Hart/Serge tandem can fuck with the warriors.

Dubs already gave Curry and Draymond a night off last week, so I have no issue w/ load managing PG13 and MM to keep them fresh and healthy.

Let’s see what the young’uns can do.

Probly should not have played today. He must be a lil embarassed and so wants to show out Sunday. Guessin it’s fatigue but can’t rest him Sunday if we want to have a chance. We’ve got a fairly good chance to catch GSW napping as I’m sure the team will show a lot of effort vs. these guys. A clip win would be major shot in the arm. I think we can do it.
