The biggest concern is John Collins’ health. I don’t know if he will play tmrw vs GSW, but I just hope this isn’t a long term injury.

Benn Mathurin – well, Clipper Nation and the FO are at least getting the full spectrum of the Mathurin experience! He was bad today and a lot of his weaknesses are showing up of late. Mathurin can be a bucket getter, but to keep it real, he gets those buckets when someone with gravity is on the floor and he can attack closeouts or fill the lane on fast breaks. If LAC extends him a contract, they gotta keep it clear in their minds that they’re not getting a Lou Williams, Jamal Crawford, or event JR Smith type player. Where he is now, if he doesn’t improve, might not be worth investing in over say Cam Christie/Jordan Miller/Kobe Sanders. It’s not just about the money. It’s about the playing time. If LAC does extend him a contract, they have to invest in his development to where he fills out that potential and becomes a real player in this league.

Jordan Miller – big beneficiary of having player with gravity on the court. He was very comfortable getting shots in his favorite spots. He’s also improved in the paint/midrange area in terms of protecting the ball. He’s been very good in that part of the floor over the last few games. He’s 18/28 from the field over his past 4 games (64%!) and over 3 assists per game. However, he’s taken 2 3PAs over those 4 games (he made 1 tonight). I hope he uses this next month to feature more 3PAs as part of his game. He could become a pretty effective scorer and a real keeper in the league.

I don’t think Garland should start right away but we may not have a choice now.

Mathurin has looked exactly like the player Rob warned us about over the last few games with a WIDE variance where he goes for 38 against the Nuggets and then looks totally lost against Magic and Pels. He’s a wonderful talent so I hope he gets on track soon.
