Except for Serge and Coffey

Given how he's played over the last couple of weeks, I would be shocked if we moved Coffey. Young, 3-and-D wings don't grow on trees - I know he plays the same position as Kawhi and PG13, but those guys are coming off major injuries, aren't getting any younger, and are gonna need plenty of rest going forward. At this point unless we make a move for a major impact player, I just can't see the Clips trading Coffey away - Bledsoe, MM, and Serge I think are the most likely guys to go.

Even if we get PG and KL back by April for a couple weeks of games, are we getting them back at 100%? I don’t know, maybe 85%? Still KL and PG at 85% with our more experienced team, is it enough to knock off the Suns, Warriors and Grizzlies?
The optimist in me says yes, but so much time until the end of the regular season.

KL is coming back probably in April? Not sure about PG?
But, if they are selling off the team, we have all of these pieces that were intended to round out a great team around our two stars. Except for Serge and Coffey, who else would we need to move?
I’m just worried that we never got to see the full healthy unit together.

I’m always a little trade happy just because it’s kind of fun to run all the scenarios and numbers. But with the way our core/bench is looking there’s really no need to do anything drastic this season. Get into the play in and get our kids some playoff experience and then with PG and Kawhi back into the mix next season we should be able to build a top four seed easily. THEN if we really need something to put us over the top at next year’s deadline that’s probably when to act. For now I’ll just keep having fun with the trade machine:-)

It will be interesting to see what the FO does at the trade deadline. I think the FO should operate on the premise that we are not competing for a title this year and so we should be looking to reshape/reload our roster to contend next year. Despite what many think, we do have assets to sell if the price is right. Never underestimate the fact that contending teams always overpay for players at the trade deadline.

So I won't go into too much detail (again because I'm assuming our 213 staff will cover it better than I ever could), but regarding trading Serge, there's really only a couple of questions to ask:

Do you think last night's performance is consistently sustainable?
Even if the answer to (1) is yes, do you think that he's going to be a significant contributor in the playoffs?
Will trading him irreparably fracture the locker room?
Regardless of (1) and (2), what is being offered for him?

Just my opinion, but (1) and (2) are "no" for me (last night was the first time all season where I thought he actually legitimately played better than Hart). If (3) is also a "no," and if the answer to (4) is "positive value" (i.e. draft picks of some sort - 1st would be nice, but highly unlikely), then I'm shipping him out. I know it's hard to sell high, but the better Serge plays in the meantime, the stronger the Clips' bargaining position becomes in trade discussions, and we need the roster spot to sign Coffey (I never would've predicted he'd become this friggin valuable), and Hart has been a more than capable backup for Zu.
