Guys need actual in-game reps now to iron out the kinks before the postseason actually starts. Also having any of PG13, Kawhi, or Mann defend the opponent’s best guard instead of having Reggie do it isn’t some amazing secret, it’s just common sense. Ty has legit cost the team at least a couple wins already which hurts extra bad when the West is this close and when we have a brutal remaining schedule. If Ty can’t help himself w/ these bizarre, ineffective rotations, then the FO needs to save him from himself by making a consolidating trade to make the roster more conventional (re: size).

But, being different isn’t always easy — esp. for the fans.
We lost this game in the 1st quarter, but it was good to see better play in the 3rd Q.
I was probably more upset during the Phila, Detroit and Boston games.
I was definitely shaking my head with this wierd nano-ball lineup: four guards and MM.

I no longer think that. The FO needs to trade some combination of Wall, Norm, Coffey, RoCo (because Ty won’t use him), and MM to get some actual size and rebounding.

We’ve seen it w/ D’Antoni, Phil Jackson (as a GM in NY, but he insisted on forcing coaches to run the triangle), and even Doc’s insistence on Trez. If Ty really insists on running microball we’re screwed this season.

  • I watch a lot of games on League Pass and the Clips are really the only playoff caliber team that has major questions about its lineups/rotations. Coaches for other teams seem to have figured that out. Clips clearly haven’t. Even the lineups that Kerr throws out there for an injury depleted GSW are sensible. It’s just hard to explain how a Powell-Kennard-Morris-PG-Reggie lineup is sensible against a team that has bigs who can score easily over smaller players. It should just make sense that if you’re going small, Terance Mann and Roco have to be in that lineup. Maybe, we shouldn’t go small.
  • Ty Lue has some vision of what this team should play like and he’s going to keep messing with stuff until he gets it right or until reality or the FO step in to say otherwise.
  • I have a vivid recollection of watching the play in game vs N.O. last year and watching Ty Lue stubbornly stick with small ball as a much bigger N.O. team started wearing down our small lineup to win that game. He might be ideologically committed to small ball, in which case I don’t know that is very compatible with winning a championship.

I think its fair to say that Ty Lue’s lineup decisions have probably cost the team 3-5 games in the win column. That’s enough to be in 1st place.

He’s been bizarro Doc this season. We all bemoaned Doc’s rigid rotations and insistence on favorites but Ty is experimenting too much w/ “positionless basketball” and shifting guys’ roles game-to-game.

Clips basically allowed a lay up line most of the game. I guess pros just don’t want to put out the effort until PO time.
